I am a second owner of this travelmate 3260 laptop. I wanted to restore the default settings because i think my pc is too slow due to viruses. How do i change the password without knowing the old password. the default password( 6 0's) was changed already. Thanks

Windows start key >all programs>Acer empowering technology>erecovery management> Restore tab(at the bottom) > factory(top of list).
If windows will not boot.
Turn computer on .
Hold Alt and keep pressing F10 when the Acer logo is on screen.
You will need a password.
If you have used erecovery before you would have been asked to create a password.
If you have never used erecovery the default password is (six zeros )
Select factory (top of list)
You may need to restore your Acer computer to its factory
defaults if a virus damages operating files or if the system begins acting
erratically for unknown reasons.
Restoring an Acer to factory defaults returns the computer
to its original state when first purchased.
Click on the Start menu.
Then, select all programs, Acer Empowering Technology and
Acer eRecovery Management.
If this is the first time you have opened the program it
will prompt you to set up a password and create a backup CD.
Click the Restore button and select the option that reads
"Restore system to factory defaults".
Wait for the computer to finish the restore
process and reboot.
Restoring for the Boot Screen
If your computer will not boot up properly, you can attempt
to reach the restore option by pressing the Alt button and the F10 button at
the same time.
When the eRecovery menu appears, choose "restore system
to factory defaults".
Wait for the recovery
process to complete and the computer to restart.

all HP made computers (acer is owned by HP) dont come with backup disks anymore, they require you to make them when you first get the computer, so if you made your restore disksyou should be able to pop them in and boot off of them and it should restore to factory settings, if you didnt make the disks the closest thing you could do is reinstall windows completely.
