How to connect to always automatically connect to your SSID

Ever turn on your computer and try to connect to the internet? Ever see all the many SSIDs in your neighborhood listed in your wireless radar or your "Windows Wireless Connection". Then you'd scroll down to double click on your SSID so that you can connect to the internet. Imagine doing this everytime you have to connect to the internet. Wouldn't that be annoying?

The Objective
The objective of this Tip/How-To is to have you turn on your computer and connect to the internet automatically via your SSID (Wireless Network Name). Hence, you wouldn't need to manually find your SSID everytime you need to connect to the internet.

6a6f420.jpg

Pre-requisites or Must haves for this Tip to work
  1. A computer with a wireless adapter
  2. A wireless router
  3. An active internet service
  4. This tip is designed for Windows XP. I will post one up for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
  5. This tip is designed to work with Wireless Networks (SSID) that do not have any passwords or encryption.

Active Tip Dictionary (throughout this TIP)
SSID
is the technical term for your broadcasted network name. This is basically what you will see listed in your WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTIONS manager.

To make your computer connect automatically to the internet via your SSID, we will need to manually tell your computer to connect to your SSID and then we will need to save this setting so that your computer will automatically connect to your SSID everytime you turn on your computer.

Let's Begin.
Start your computer by turning it on.

Click on your Start Button.

Move your mouse over to Control Panel and then left click on it.

Double click on the Network Connections icon.

Double click on Wireless Connection. Now in the picture above you see Wireless Connection 3 but on your screen you should see Wireless Connection.

Now click on Properties.

Click on the Wireless Networks Tab.

Now scroll up and down under Preferred networks until you find your Wireless Network Name (SSID). For me, it's called linksys therefore I will select linksys.

Now click on Properties.

Now click on the Connection tab.
52daf8c.jpg

Under Automatic connection, click to check "Connect when this network is in range". This will tell your computer to connect automatically to your Wireless Network Name (SSID).

Click OK to save this setting.

Click OK again to get out of the Properties window.

Click OK again to get out of the Wireless Connections window.

Then click Close to close out of the Wireless Connections window.

And there you have it, you have setup to automatically connect to your Wireless Network (SSID) everytime you turn on your computer.

Now restart your computer and give it a few seconds, and voila, you are automatically connecting to your Wireless Network (SSID). Now you can surf the internet. You can set this on all your computers at home that have a wireless card.

Remember to give me a good rating and vote for me. If you require further tips and tricks, feel free to contact me through the contact box. I will post up your tip.

Win 7 driver

WINDOWS 7 DEVICE DRIVERS PROBLEM
Windows 7 should automatically install device drivers for the Audio, Video and Network. If you are unable to find/download a device driver that works on your computer and your computer is connected to the Internet then - 1. Remove the driver that isn't working if it was installed.
2. Set Win-7 "Windows Device Installation" to 'AUTO'
3. Windows will automatically search the Internet for the driver.
4. Reboot your computer.

How do I turn the WiFi on

Open your Internet browser and navigate to the Samsung PC Studio download page

(see Resources for link).

Click the link next to the operating system you currently have installed on the computer. Momentarily the software begins to download directly to your computer system.

Double-click the downloaded software to load the installation wizard. Click "Next" on the welcome page, then accept the end-user agreement and leave the current installation name and location as-is.

Select "Install" to install the software directly onto the computer system.

Plug the USB data cable into the power connection port on the Samsung L760, then plug the other end of the cable into a USB port on your computer.

Load the software you just installed; the computer automatically detects the hooked-up cell phone.

hope this helps

No problem just purchased and going online for 6 months tech support. can't seem to find out how to do this

haaa, HP offered on-line services if only if you pay...but it won't do any good because it only could solve low-end user problems who don't know how to connect computer to router/modem, who don't know how to stop invader steal their internet services(most low-end users even didn't know it) thru wireless router...
uless your computer still could run internet at least O.S/Bios, beyond that you can't solve your problem by on-line services, or phone-services.

Having trouble with acer computer getting it to load my home page on the internet, Even when set to do so. Why? The computer automaticly brought me to your site. this is an Acer 3680. could it be driver...

Are you using Internet Explorer to access the internet or some other browser (Firefox, Chrome, or etc)? Either way something is set to direct your browser to arrive here. If you're using an alternative browser then making changes in your Windows Internet Options isn't likely to change your alternative browser settings.

I can not operate Internet

Hi there, my name is Alex and I am here to help solve this problem.

There are many ways why internet might not be operating.

1: Please check all your connections with the phone line and router are correct

2: You may have an antivirus with a built in Firewall which can block the traffic to internet to your computer

3: You may need to assign your computer with an IP address and possibly DNS addresses. Some internet companies assign connections with their own IP addresses automatically and if this is the case and you have put an IP address on your computer, then take it out, select to Optain IP address automatically. This type of connection is known as a dynamic connection and a static connection is when your ISP company assign your connection with your own IP ADDRESS

To check these settings, click start, configuration, control panel and select network connections

right click on local area connections and select properties. Click the bottom option Internet protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties. There you will find if your PC has an IP address assigned.

4: Your RJ45 connectors (These are the connectors which go into a LAN card and one end to the router may not be inserted correct or the ethernet cable may be damaged or wired incorrectly

5: The last option could be you have a Virus, malware, spyware or even third party software installed on your computer which is blocking access to the internet

I hope this info helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions. happy to help

As you did not state whether you are using a Mac or Windows computer I am assuming you are using Windows.

Be sure your pop-up blocker is turned on. this is found in the tools menu. Also check to see if the pop-up blocker settings are allowing this site to run pop-ups. If this does not work I recommend the following.

I'm assuming you're using microsoft's browser. Go to >tools>internet options>browsing history>delete and delete temporary internet files and then delete cookies. You will lose automatic log on passwords and login names so be sure you have recorded them. Reboot your machine and hopefully these pop ups will go away.
