All you need to do is to connect the ethernet cable to the internet port on the back of the linksys router and then plug the routers power cord into the wall and you should be ready to go.

SOURCE: Moto modem to Linksys wireless router

You have to reset the modem from behind (little pin hole) with the modem and router not connected via ethernet, the let it restart and reset the router after both are reset connect the ethernet cable between them.

1- in order of what connects to what
1- linksys connects to road runner modem. Should be a network connection on the back of the router that says uplink. This connects to the road runner`s wired port on the back of the unit.
Vonage phone will/should connect through the wireless section an in your personal wifi connection when you get the router wireless setup. Name your wireless something that other people are not using and then tell vonage phone to connect to that network.
Hope this helps

I have a linksys WRT54G, and I'm trying to hook up a wi-fi connection. As of now, my internet is Internet Explorer, and my current modem is a motorola SB5101. The Motorola modem is hooked up directly to...

Hello
Try this

1 disconnect all wires, including power from the modem and router.
2 Find reset button on router usually in the back, need a pen tip or paper clip to hold it in.
3 Hold in reset for 1 min.
4 Reconnect modem first,power up.
5 Reconnect router second, power up.

Try changing the ethernet wire from the modem to the router.

So your going to have your cable coax wire to the modem. Then a ethernet wire from the modem to the router, then a ethernet wire from the router to the computer.

Sounds like you may have one wire in the wrong place.

We moved and when everything was hooked up i cant get a connection from my linksys wireless router to my laptop

Ok - hook the power to the Linksys - then RESET - the folded out paper clip will work. Once RESET - hook it up to your ISP provided MODEM [ You must have this service to get on the web] now unplug the Modem provided by your ISP or provider - and unplug the router.
WAIT
15 seconds - then
hook up the MODEM from the provider - then hook up the router - then restart the laptop - if wired it will need to be plugged in - if wireless - run your 'search for a wireless signal and you should have it.

Thanks

I HAVE A NEW HP DESKTOP AND AN OLD LINKSSY WIRELESS G

Hi Vivian,

Chweck you cables and where they are conencted.

You will need to make sure that the Comcast modem is providing internet, you can do this by connecting your laptop to it using ethernet directly if it connects to the internet, that will be a good thing.

From your comcast Modem, the ethernet Cable should go to the linksys where it says "WAN". this should give you an internet connection and make your comcast modem communicate with your linksys Router.

Without a linksys disc how do i get my router to work

See if you can hook an ethernet cable up between your computer and the Linksys. Then give it a few minutes and go to a command prompt and type ipconfig you will see the black screen display your ip address and so you can write down the gateway address. Now in a broswer, type the ip address. It will look something like this http://192.168.0.1 and you should see a configuration menu pop up. Hope this helps
