SOURCE: replacing engine. Briggs 26hp on GT5000 garden tractor

Unfortunately, there is no single manual for this. It depends entirely on what crankshaft the OEM requested be used in the engine. You need to find out the diameter of the crankshaft and any threading to it, direction of the threading, etc. From there, a replacement can usually be found pretty easily. That or contact Briggs customer support (number in your owners manual) with the Model, Type and Code numbers off the engine. From this information they can see how the engine was outfitted for that OEM. Horsepower tells them nothing as those ratings and stickers are often replaced by the OEM and often NOT the information Briggs sends out on the engine.

SOURCE: Craftsman professional 917.28970 garden tractor

There isn't anything that can be adjusted on your tractor to compensate for the condition. This is something that there have been complaints about since production hit the market with this design. There is a degree of toe-in or toe-out that is normal and by design. Most people (myself included) see anything other than true straight as being an issue.
Because of the complaints and because a lot of machine had so much toe that it was a problem, adjustable drag links are now being produced to alleviate this condition.

  • Right side 71-917-409600
You will need to get both parts in order to right the situation. If the machine was purchased 2 years ago or less, warranty should cover the replacement. If it is outside of 2 years the warranty will not cover the parts.
If you need to order them, you can go HERE to place the order and have them shipped to your home.

What is used to lubricate the transaxle of craftsman gt5000 garden tractor. Is it grease only or 80-90w oil?

If tractor is _very_ old (and/or worn), you can't go wrong with 90-145w gear oil. Someone may have used grease for a bad leak, but heavy gear oil should work for you. Remove as much grease as possible without using solvent, and then fill with heavy gear oil. You'll be ok. (Later on check level and ''top-off'' if necessary).

Where is the fuel filter located on a craftsman gt5000?I want to change it, but don't want to screw it up.... I do not have a manual for this rider.

If the fuel filter is not clogged and stopping fuel from going to the carburetor then leave it installed until it is full of particulates and restricting fuel flow.
