This is a recent development - the water pours out the vent under pressure when the dishwasher is emptying.

Make sure the 'T' where the dishwasher is connected is directing the water downward. also, if this isn't the issue, move the 'T' to the other drain pipe. If the 'T' is too close to the vent, you will get back pressure and it will come out. The less resistance the better.

if your washer is installed correct your sink has an "air gap" that could need cleaned ( on sink top next to faucet theres a short stubby silver cap) under this is a plastic cap that unscrews (dont run washer with this off water will come out ) try pouring a bit of water down hole if it is blocked your air gap is plugged this will require a plumber to dissasemble it to clean it off

Tip

How to Sanitize Your Dishwasher

Step 1 -
Get rid of any odor that may be coming from the plumbing pips your dishwasher shares with the sink. Pour a half of cup of baking soda down each sink drain. Pour cups of vinegar down each drain until all of the baking soda is washed away. After five minutes, run very, very hot water down each of the drains.

Step 2 -
Clean out your garbage disposal. Slice a lemon/lime and put the slices down your disposal drain. Run your disposal with cold water running.

Step 3 -
Pour two cups of vinegar into the dishwasher and let it sit for an hour and then let the dishwasher run through a cycle with the hottest water possible. Repeat the process is that does not clean up all of the build and film. You can use baking soda and bleach instead of vinegar - just sprinkle the baking soda in the bottom of the dishwasher tub, and pour bleach inside the tub as well.

Step 4 - Between washes, pour 1/4 cup of lemon juice into the dishwasher cup and run a short, but complete wash cycle. This will not only deodorize the dishwasher but will also help get rid of any metal build-up.

How do we remove the horrible smell in our Bosch dishwasher?

First check out your model to see if it has a built in garbage disposal, if so, make sure it is not mucked up.
Run hot water down your sink drain while running the sinks garbage disposal. Pour baking soda down your sink garbage disposal followed by white vinegar. Let it sit and foam. Run hot water down sink disposer while running. When finished:
Run empty dishwasher with no soap, let dishwasher fill with hot water to wash and then pour 1 cup of white vinegar into the bottom and resume wash. Make sure you take it through the dry cycle. When finished, open dishwasher and let it air for a couple of hours, longer if you live in humid area. Hope these steps do the trick.

I have a Kenmore quiet guard 3 model: 665.74364k2 and serie F55202295. It is not draining properly. It works fine and cleans the dishes but when it goes to drain it leaks in my basement ceiling and vents.

if you have an air gap vent in the kitchen sink plumbing then make sure it is clear. Also looks like the kitchen drain end is blocked. Pour some caustic soda into the sink drain, wait 10 minutes and run water into the sink.

If you are using insinkerator (garbage disposer) in sink, make sure it is run before you start the dishwasher.

We are getting a strong odor from our two compartment dishwasher, would welcome any suggestions

Get rid of any odor that may be coming from the plumbing pipes your dishwasher shares with the sink. Pour a half a cup of baking soda down each sink drain. Pour cups of vinegar down each drain until all the baking soda is washed away. After 5 minutes, run very, very hot water down each of the drains.

Clean out your garbage disposal. Slice a lemon and put the slices down your disposal drain. Run your disposal with the cold water running. You can use just the lemon or an orange rind if you don't have a whole lemon.

Pour two cups of vinegar into the dishwasher and let it sit for an hour and then let the dishwasher run through a cycle with the hottest water possible. Repeat the process if that does not help. You can use baking soda instead of vinegar - just sprinkle it in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Between washes, pour ¼ cup lemon juice into the dishwasher cup, and run a short but complete wash cycle. Is will not only deodorize the dishwasher, but will also help get rid of any metal build-up

How do you reset the kenmore elite dishwasher? I replaced the faucet in my sink and forgot to turn on the water to the dishwasher....when I started it it went half way through the cycle when I realized...

Turn off the breaker that powers it. If all else fails, take a jug, fill it in the sink and pour it into the bottom of the dishwashwer until it comes to the bottom of the heater, that's the round think suspended above the bottom, below the rack, and turn it back on.

I have started hearing a gurgling sound in my diswasher air vent when I run water in my sink. Why has this begun happening? I have an /estate dishwasher Model TUD7000Y-0

Sounds like your waste water drains could be backing up and pushing water back into the dishwasher.
Firstly try pouring Mr Muscle sink and plughole un-blocker down the sink and leave overnight next morning pour boiling water down the sink and your pipes should be squeaky clean. Hopefully this will improve the flow and prevent gurgling!

Non return valve

Has it always done this? If so it was an install issue. The tech should have put the drain above the drain with a loop to prevent backfill.
