Question about Projection Televisions

Mitusbishi WT 42385 HDTV. Having a problem getting the HDTV to work. I do not have the remote, but when you set it to HDTV channels it only shows snow in the picture. The sound works fine. Can I do something with the menu controls on the front of the TV to get it to work?

After the work we did with your rep to resolve the issue we determined that we did not have a means to fix the problem. Your rep suggested to call the cable provider and have them run a test signal. They said that would probably fix the problem, but if it didn't they may need to change the cable box. I contacted the cable company and they ran the test signal which did not work so yesterday the cable company sent a technician out and they changed the box. This corrected the problem and the HDTV is working great. Thanks for the help even though it did not work by your solution directly, you did lead me to resolve the problem.
thanks

First: an old adage with TV sets of all kinds is the set is not smart enough to know what channel you are on---problems only on a few channels usually are not the set.

The only place where this is not the case is a group of several adjacent channels like 2-6 having this could mean a problem with the low band in the set's tuner--a bad tuner.

Most of these large Mitsubishi sets have PIP or picture in picture--the remote will have a swap button--engage it and see if the PIP has the same issue----if not the set uses 2 tuners and one is bad.

A cable box would allow you to instantly get around that by going into the rear audio/video jacks.

To whom it may concern. I own a RCA D52W23 Monitor and run it through a VHS recorder. The problem I am having is when watching non-HDTV channels,I can not see the top of the picture (Heads cut off).Only...

look through the video or setup menu and find Picture Format- make sure it is not set to ZOOM.
I believe "format" is also on the remote-- upper left?

Locked out

Most of these sets have a keyboard lock used so children cannot change inputs etc and it usually can be turned off by holding the menu button in for about ten seconds.

THE SET SHOULD STILL WORK WITH A REMOTE!

If it does not work with a remote and comes on for a moment and then the power light goes out----the set is in shutdown and I can tell you how to do the built in self check this set has for this.

Either the keyboard is locked or the set is actually in shutdown.

Picture is a little fuzzy and does not fit the screen

Good Day, mopar69;

Try this and if does not work, call SONY TV with Model and Serial NUMBERS, this sounds like you may have a defective light engine, and they are having problems with them, and they , Sony, are covering that device.

Restoring unit to Factory Preset Condition

1) Power off the set (set is now in Standby Mode).
2) On the remote, Press DISPLAY, CHANNEL 5, VOL +, POWER.
3) On the Remote press CHANNEL 8, ENTER.
4) Wait until Initial Setup is displayed.
5) Turn off TV sets power by the Remote or Front Panel button.
6) WAIT AT LEAST 3 MINUTES UNTIL THE LAMP COOLS DOWNS BEFORE UNPLUGGING OR DISCONNECTING THE AC FROM THE TV. If the set is not allowed to cool down the lamp may be damaged by excess heat build up.

I hope this was helpful, Good Luck, big IRISH.

Screen cut off on the bottom - WT-42313 Mits 42"

Make sure your remote is the official Mit remote, and that it is set for TV, usually the far left setting at the top of the remote.

These remotes control many different devices. Some will allow video to work without allowing audio to work.

TV will allow all to work.

Can't get any channels on the air.\

If the tuner is the problem then it is a very bad problem as the tuner is part of the DM module and that is very expensive. When you say you have to manually key in the channels, do they work then? If so the problem is not the tuner. If your only problem is that you cannot go from one channel to the other by using the channel up and down button on the remote, then you have most likely just lost the programming on the tv. Go into menu and set up and find the auto channel programming and run auto program to correct the problem.
