Question about Iomega REV ATAPI HDR B/U KIT CA 6 REV DISKS FOR 35GB EACH (742709334023) Media

1 Answer

My Iomega Rev drive keeps ejecting the disks I put into it. It has been backing up reliably for a few years now and recently it started ejecting every disk I put into it.

FWIW, I had the same problem...here's what I did.

I would insert a disk and it would get ejected immediately...didn't even look like the light in the eject button would flash. Rebooting the drive and computer didn't work.

I inserted a disk.
Before it could be ejected, I pulled the plug on the Rev Drive.
I waited several seconds
Re-plugged in the rev drive.

It seemed to read my disk and I was able to use my Rev drive. (So far so good...knock on my wooden head.)

Luck

How do I use a jump drive Hi-Speed 16 GB Stix

You didn't mention the manufacturer on your 16GB stick, but that should not be a problem using it. The price on 16GB USB drives has fallen dramatically in recent weeks, so you will see more of them in use.
If you plug the USB drive into one of your computer's free USB ports, it should be recognized by your computer and assigned a drive letter in Windows. This means if you view the contents of your hard drive using Windows File Explorer, you should see another drive representing the 16GB USB thumb drive in the list of disks.
If you click on that drive you will see its contents (if any). Some drives come with software pre-loaded on them which you may be able to use to encrypt the contents of the thumb drive.
In all other respects, the USB drive will function like any other disk drive, allowing you to move or copy files back and forth between your main hard drive and the USB drive.
Be careful to 'unmount' the USB drive before you remove it from the USB port. Often there will be a flashing LED light on the drive which indicates that data is being written to the USB drive. If you remove the drive while the light is blinking, you may damage the file system on the USB drive and make reading its data impossible.
To eject the drive properly using Windows File Explorer, click on your main hard drive (usually C:) to select it, then RIGHT-CLICK on the drive you want to eject. A menu will come up, and you should click 'Eject' to close out the USB drive. You will get a confirmation message window that it is safe to remove the drive.

Hello

theres a few things you can do, when you do format your memory stick make sure you format it to the default settings.
Also make sure everytime you put files onto your memory stick that you remove the memory stick safely you can do this by right clicking the memory stick and pressing eject.
However the problem could be that your memory stick is corrupt.

Hello,

First things first, if you haven't yet, try the flash drive on the other computer and see if it recognizes, if it does copy everything off of it and then replace it. Remember, flash drives are like floppies, meant for transfer and convenience not permanent backups as they are easy to damage.

If it works you're done, if it doesn't you will need the help of a professional facility to recover the files on the flash drive.

We have a few companies we refer people to for data recovery, depending on your location, budget and timeframe we will point you in the right direction.

Please reply with your Location(Country, State and City), your choice of budget options(listed below), and Deadline for getting the data recovered if this is and issue.

Option 1 Rush service through closest provider, usually 3-5 days costs between $700-$1400.

Option 2 Standard service through closest provider $350-$700 depending on location. usually 2-4 weeks

Option 3 Standard service through best priced provider, $100-$600 and 2-6 weeks depending on your location.

Please comment back with you choice of options and location and I will reply back with a referral to an appropriate facility.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

When I plug my usb cable into the laptop a bubble tells me my device is not recognised. I cannot see my Iomega listed on my programs at all, have followed some procedures from the iomega website but...

Dear Geraldine78,
Please follow these and let me know if it works...
Connect the USB device to the USB port on your computer and switch on the USB device.. you will see the balloon and it would say device is not installed properly etc .. as you mentioned... Now

Right click on "My computer" --> Properties --> Hardware tab --> Device manager button .. click on + sign next to the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" do you see any Red "X" or "!" marks?

Right click and un-install the devices with Red X or "!" marks.
Then disconnect the USB device and then reconnect it back to the computer and this time the computer should Re-recognize and then reinstall the device and this time it should work fine.

Hope that helps. Please let me know in case you still have any issues.

Regards,
Srinivas

Phone won't read sandisk memory

I have seen this happen a lot of times with memory cards and formatting is the only solution for this and in the formatting options choose FAT32 as it seems more reliable than FAT. I have last formatted(FAT32) my card two years back when I had problems like these and I haven't had this problem since then.

run a check disk on the memory stick - most likely a good indicator that the flash drive is on its way out as they normally have a life span of about a year or two.

Can't read specific Diskette

It sounds like the one diskette has gotten corrupted. If there is no problem reading the others then it is not a drive problem but a diskette problem. Sorry.
