Have dead short in 6300. Have been unable to fine short. What is the chance it is the PTO relay module. I say that because the PTO stopped beforethe fuse blew.

Everything works fine until I engage the PTO for the mower deck. The battery discharge light comes on and eventually the battery goes dead.

The PTO clutch is an electro magnet. There is probably a dead short within the clutch body. Replace the Clutch.

Why does my engine shut off after running for awhile with PTO engaged; will restart with PTO disengaged, but shuts off when i attempt to engage PTO?

Does this only happen when the engine is warm or at operating temperature or all the time even when cold? In older engines, a 'bad ignition coil' would fail when the engine warmed up and would not start again until cool or at ambient temperature.

Husqvarna pto problem(?) disengaged blades to travel, would not engage after. Battery dead when checked after shutting off engine and wouldn't restart

Hi, first charge or replace the battery if necessary then check that the mower is charging the battery. The pto is probably fine but it needs battery voltage to engage. If the mower has stopped charging the battery may have had enough voltage to hold the pto in until you disengaged it but not enough to re engage it. Regards Phil.

I have a john deere 737 ztrak with a 23hp kawasaki engine. It cranks fine and runs strong. However, when the pto is engaged and begin mowing, the engine stalls. Also, the battery charge light comes on...

First. My disclaimer. I do not have first hand experience with your model mower.

Well, it sounds like when you engage the PTO the power to the PTO shorts to ground causing a) your charge light to come on as the voltage drops substantially and b) your mower to stall as the minimum voltage of the ingnition system is reached (or some other effect is at work). The clutch is might be internally shorted, or you may have a frayed wire in the PTO circuit. You may or may not have a PTO relay. If you do, it is sure to burn up if you continue using your mower. If you do not have a relay, you will definitely burn out the PTO switch. It is odd you are not blowing an inline fuse if this is the correct answer. Check your PTO circuit with a continuity tester to tell you if there is a short (or measure resistance directly with a voltmeter on ohms).

Depending on the model I would suspect the PTO relay (model specific)is faulty. If its the new X series I would replace module under dash that is held in place by one 10mm bolt.

ohm out the clutch......should be 2-4 ohms any less means the clutch has an internal short and will need to be replaced. also check the saftey interlock module, however the modle numbers u gave do not come up, relays checked ok? how did u test them?

PTO CONTROLS. How do you engage and disengage PTO.

The tractor is not a 6300 is it.If it' not you need to adjust the cable for the p.t.o. until it will stay down.Don't turn the turnbuckle too much at a time because there is a fine line between the won't engage and the won,t disengage adjustment.

Pto stops working while mowing

is this by any chance a husqvarna or cub cadet/yardman? ran across this problem in all three. they use a cheaply made clutch that's prone to bearing failures. the clutch [not cheap, just cheaply made] needs to be replaced, the pto switch needs replaced AND the little relay under the dash - if you replace the clutch and switch and not the relay, it'll keep taking out the switch and that can get expensive in a hurry

Blown fuses when mowing

you have a wire that is shorting out somewhere, i would trace the wires from the clutch all the way back to the fuse including the relay and pto switch. You will more than likely find your problem in the control circuit between the fuse, pto switch and relay since this is what is fuse protected.
