I own a Samsung 60 inch DLP rear projection TV--Model Number HLN617W. After my wife heard a very strange noise it "died." Knowing all about the lamp issues and having already purchased a spare bulb, I replaced the bulb. Did not work. I spoke with a local TV repair shop, and they determined I NEED A NEW COLOR WHEEL, and while I was at it they recommended I replace the fan for the color wheel. Their parts price seemed high to me---$96 for the color wheel and $63 for the fan----But I was blown away with the labor cost for a home visit to install these items---$250. I am a relatively handy "do-it-yourself" kind of guy. I took the big back panel off the TV. I can see that the color wheel is immediately in front of the lamp that I replaced. It seemed to me that it was at least possible that with a little instrucition, I could replace this myself. Is there a web site---or a "shop manual" or some other source that would help me do this? Do you have any suggestions on how I should go about this? Do you have any suggestions on where I might get the parts at a more reasonable price? Any other thoughts?
