Hey, seems the choppy sound is due to the revision of some systems firmware with the TSST drives, on my system I downloaded what is touted as a Server update for the TSST TSL462C the file was R147358.exe, if flashed the CDRW/DVD combo drive and viola, it seems that 99% of the audio skipping is gone, don't know about other drives, but the Sigmatel driver on my system is version 5.10.0.4995 if I remember I got this driver off the LG site for Notebooks.

Hope it helps.

I have replaced my hard drive with a SSD. The computer is working perfect except that it now refuses to play any of the audio files that it used to play.A message comes up saying the file format is no

It sounds like your sound drivers are not installed or corrupted. Does it play any sound at all? For example the windows startup sound. Look in device manager and see if your sound device is working properly. There maybe more than 1 device. If so then go to your sound properties (right click speaker icon on taskbar) and see if there is another device you can use to play sound and make that one your default choice. If this doesn't work then look for updated sound drivers for your particular device. Hope you get it working.

The sound from my laptop jumps and skips when I try to play music.

Open the Control panel 2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. 3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document. 4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel. 5. Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.
Check Windows services. Right Click My Computer and Manage. Choose Services and Application > Services. Choose "Windows Audio" and set to Automatic and Start. Now next you can do is If you open control panel & click device manager the window that opens will show a list of all installed hardware. Look for anything with an exclamation mark beside it, or to do with sound. If you see anything, right click it, check it isn't Disabled then select "Properties." The next window should have some tabs along the top, the one you are looking for is "Driver," you should now see an "Update driver" button. Check ur sound card information by doing this Click on start menu Click on Run Type dxdiag, enter Click on the sound tab There is button of test direct sound click on this check if there is sound Check ur registry. Check if the sound registry key is enabled or disabled. There could be an error in registry, run registry cleaner reginout to scan for errors.

The external display stays muted and plays no sound but when I use the headphone port the sounds work. I cant get the laptop speakers to produce any sound though.

Go to control panel and go to sound and hardware (Just go to anything that says sound)!

Then go to sound and audio devices!

Go to Audio and change the default until sound comes out of tv!

Reinstall the drivers for your sound card and make sure that the settings for it are correct. Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your operating system. Good luck!

Acer Aspire 6530 sound card

Looking at VIA's page on the P4M266 and scrolling down, it shows you're using South Bridge VT8233/8233A/8233C. Going to VIA Arena and selecting XP, Audio, and VIA AC97 codecs incorporated into VT8233, VT8233A, VT8233C, VT8235 and VT8237/R South Bridges takes me to the audio driver you need. Just click the above link and get it.

also u might have to un-install driver and reinstall it! but PLEASE DO NOT UNINSTALL ANYTHING WITH OUT HAVING THE DRIVER CD or all the hard and software needed!

Hi there,

Try updating/re-installing your audio drivers from the laptop website, or from manufaqcturer's website. Also, update your Chipset drivers.

Hope that helps
