It only supports up to a 533mhz front side bus(fsb)
since you have a dothan(newer) just look for a p4m (m for mobile) processor with a 533fsb and probably without HT and under 2.8ghz to be safe (i cant say a 2.8 will work or not but at least you have a direction)

btw any penium 4 m is faster than the celeron you have
another thing heat will be higher, clear dust and use tiny amount of arctic silver 5
and battery time will be down

Doubtful. These are highly proprietary units and almost impossible to customize. You may find (I am not sure but I have seen this on other types of units) that the CPU is hardwired into the "motherboard" (if you want to call it that) and the whole thing is inserted into a case holder. They are almost impossible to repair of customize, like a cell phone. The best thing is to check some of the better support forums such as Bleeping Computer, Suggest-A-Fix, or Geeks To Go.

Hello, it seems you have more than one issue at hand but lets start with the blue screen, this is typically caused by driver errors on your system. You should check the manufacturers website for the latest drivers available for your system. The CPU is a bunch of different issues so it's hard to zone in on one. Most likely cause lack of RAM, best possible solution try not running too many programs simultaneously. If you are willing to spend on this computer there a lot of programs available online to aid in improving the overall performance of the system one such is Ashampoo win optimizer.

If new processor supports your old motherboard then you will upgrade system with your old motherboard.

If its not supported to new mother board then you have to buy new motherboard to upgrade your system.

Thanks.

Hello,

I would suggest that you go for Thermaltake Duorb.

Even though its more expensive but it gives you a

I have a Toshiba L305-S5968 laptop and the processor is 2 GHz but the games we wish to play are 2.4 Ghz can I change the CPU? thanks and hope for a quick response, Shawn

Hello tristianlark,
You can upgrade the processor in most laptops. The only thing is the time and the COST. A lot places sell laptop CPU's for a lot more than they would a dekstop CPU due to the fact that most poeple do not do it. But here is a link to a highly informative website that should answer all of your questions. I have a Toshiba A205-S7442 that I was going to perform a CPU upgrade but the cost detered me.
Good luck.

Toshiba a30-931 what is largest posible cpu

Franky_J knows nothing you could go for a P4 2.8 cpu which would work much better than the Celeron in fack any P4 over 2.0 would out perform the celeron if you want speed get rid of the Celeron and get a P4 it should take up to an 3.2 P4 chip.

Franky if you dont understand cpu's then you shouldn't really be answering this question in the cpu world a 2.8 ghz cpu is not always a 2.8ghz cpu for instance this one has half the cash of a P4 cpu meaning it can only do half the work at the same time so in P4 terms this is only a 1.8 P4 equivilent so a 2.8 P4 will be a big improvement.

Overlocked my Intel Pentium 4 3.00 Ghz

You have to go into your bios and see what your front side bus and memmory speeds are. If you overclock you cpu, sometimes you need to underclock your memmory. Say step your memmory down to 333mhz and overclock your front side bus(fsb).
Normally your fsb is 200 and only increase it by mhz. Restart, go into windows. and see if it is stable.

I always use cpu-z and gpu-z to check all of my hardware settings. I use ati tool to overclock my x1950 and it is great. There really isnt any good cpu overclocking tools because its better to do it in the bios.

Do a specific search in google for your processor and overclocking.

You pulled the processor out of your laptop ... that was a brave move ... generally laptop boards are fully integrated so there is very few options on changing the processor ... also because of the extreme heating conditions the heat sink bonding is very critical ... make sure you replace this properly or you will have overheating issues in the future ...
