Question about GE JVM3670 Microwave Oven
Everything seems OK but food will not heat up. Checked the fuses and they are OK. Electrical "burn" smell from area of magnetron.
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
Accessing some components for testing will require you to remove the oven from the wall.
If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.
You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.
It is vital that the cooling fan runs, or the magnetron will be destroyed.
When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.
So verify that is working before you take the unit apart.
We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and all are working here.
Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:
(if it is NOT shorted or burned , it's probably fine)
(continuity can be good even though it is bad!)
If you need further help, please write back with the results of your tests.
