Question about MSI MS-6534 (6534-010) Motherboard

1 Answer

MSI MS-6534 Hi everyone. I have a question about a replacement CPU for an MSI MS6534 mobo. I read (on http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/MS-6534.html) that it doesn't support 533fsb Northwood P4 CPU's and refuses to recognise ANY Prescott core models. I'm looking for a faster CPU. The current one is:- Socket 478 1.5ghz Northwood core 100mhz normal fsb OC'ed to 2ghz by upping fsb to 133 I'm after a faster CPU, but unsure what versions of skt478 P4's I can use - Surely, if I can set the fsb to 133 then I can use a 533fsb Northwood CPU even if the Prescott core (are they the Hyper-Threading ones?) are out of the question?

Thanks for trying, backs up the info I got on the site I mentioned :(

I have to try and find a 400fsb Northwood core CPU. Don't really understand why the 533fsb ones won't work tho, I already have the fsb at that speed!

Memory +cpu upgrade

No to the cpu you selected. Board would not support that cpu. The RAM you selected would probably work but for how long I couldn't say. With prices pretty low right now it would probably be better to purchase a new motherboard, cpu, & RAM. Hope this helps.

Problem running ship simulator 2008

I just purchased this same mobo with a 2400+ AMD XP CPU and it's quite fast for my Rail Simulator game. I have a 2800+ cpu that I will be trying soon. Good reference on this is at link: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-MSI/KT3V_KT4V_(MS-6712).html . there you can find the max CPU that will work with your mobo. Good luck! -
