SOURCE: pansonic model nn-p295 over the range microwave oven

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer. You can find one here:

SOURCE: Panasonic NN-P295 Cooktop Light not working

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

You could have a problem with the inverter board or magnetron. If it shows a code like "H98", then it's probably an inverter issue. To test, go to:

Can you replace the waveguide in a model NN-SN756B Panasonic microwave oven?

Generally, there are no user serviceable parts in a microwave oven due to the dangers of exposing yourself to microwave radiation. There are special screws that can only be removed by technicians who have the right tool.

However, I did find this.

Did you recently have trouble with the cooktop lights?

Sometimes when the cooktop lights blow or are inserted or removed while the oven is still plugged in, the filaments can short, causing a surge that damages the controller.

They can be repaired. More details here.

Where is the thermal switch located

If your model is NN-P295, then the service manual is here.

You can order Panasonic parts from
Encompass here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Most microwaves have a thermal cutout or thermostat on the magnetron, on the top of the cooking cavity, and often on the floor of the oven or above the bottom cover.

My panasonic microwave model NN T99)SAF is now missing a part. The part is on the inside of the microwave. It is a thin flat piece that is a cover over an opening for a fan or something . . .it is about 4"...

That is called the ceiling cover, also known as the waveguide cover, stirrer cover, or spatter shield.

It will definitely need to be replaced. It provides important protection for the magnetron.

You will need the following parts:

B20554U00AP ceiling cover
A90804U00AP canoe clip

The best place to order parts for this brand is Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Panasonic NN-S541BF (2001)

Quite often this is due to grease or food particles stuck somewhere in the cavity of the oven or stuck on or behind the waveguide cover.

It may also be in the area of the turntable support, coupler, or motor.

The waveguide cover (also called a spatter shield) is usually about the size of a playing card and often held in place by a plastic rivet.

In some models it is a larger stirrer cover type made of thicker plastic in the ceiling of the oven.

It can be fragile, and the metal edges of the oven behind it can be sharp, so be careful!

The cover and the metal behind it should be cleaned with a mild, non-ammonia cleaner.

If the cavity metal of the oven is chipped or charred, it will have to be sanded smooth and clean and dried thoroughly.

Then you can apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Builder's Square.

If your waveguide cover is burned, it will need to be replaced. It provides important protection for the magnetron.

The best place to order Panasonic parts is Tritronics. Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.
