Are you sure there is a belt in there? Here is a schematic.

My hoover steam vac is making a horrible noise and smells like its burning

Something may have jammed the brush roller, preventing rotation. This causes the motor shaft to rotate in one spot on the belt, causing the burning rubber smell. Eventually, the belt will break. You need to find what caused the jam and remove it. It would be a good idea to replace the belt as a burned belt is unlikely to last much longer.

Hoover changing belt

There is no belt in Hoover Steam Vac. A gear box turns the brushes. The nylon gears wear down, eventually, but can be replaced. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-vPOk9kEag

How do you replace the belt on a Hoover steam vac V Model 7425-900 ?

sdHi pdjanusz,

Does yours have a belt on it to change? The Hoover V models have air driven brushes. Can you tell me the problem you're having? Ar the brushes not turning?

Thanks,

Where is the belt on the hoover steam vac, how do you change it

There is no belt. The brushes are ran by an air driven turbine. Make sure the top recovery lid is on correctly and sealed.

there is no belt on this model. From your description, it is definitely electrical, possibly the motor. I would have it looked at a repair shop.

Belt on steam vac v2

The V2 doesn't use a belt, it uses a turbine to drive the brush block, If brushes are not turning, either the shaft on the brush block broke off, or the turbine is bad and will have to be replaced.
