How can I reset a Coby DVD-925

I have a Coby DVD-925 DVD Home Theater System, it does not work after my son pressed some buttons on the remote control. Now when I turn ON or OFF the DVD nothing happens on the TV. And, when I try to play a DVD I can hear the sound track through the speakers, but there is not image or sound on the TV. I tried also the s-video outlet, but the image is completely des-recognizable. The problem can be something related with the setup. Probably with the selection of video signal (PAL, NTSC, etc.). Maybe the solution is to reset all setups, is there any way to do this.

I am looking for a replacement remote for my dvd-925. can anyone help?

You can order a replacement remote for $15.95 from Fox International the information below:

Phone - 800-321-6993

Or click on the link below.

Or you can purchase a universal remote from Wallmart or Best Buy which will allow you to use some functions. I would buy the one from Fox since shipping is included and all functions will be on the remote for the same price or less than the universal remote.

I have a Coby DVD938 dvd player. I have sound and picture but the color on the picture is only in black and white. How do I fix this?

Make sure the video connections are in the correct ports If they are, get to the screen with the coby logo, make sure no disk is in the tray and reset the DVD player with remote:

Make sure you do not have a disk in the tray. Using the DVD player remote control:

  1. Press 'Setup'

  2. Press the right arrow 4 times

  3. Press the down arrow 7 times

  4. Press Enter

I lost the remote and cant change my speaker settings on my coby dvd 915

Unfortunately, you'll need a new remote. Try a universal if you have one. If not, might just buy a new remote. eBay has a bunch listed cheap enough. Just search the model number of the remote for your system. I was able to find this remote, although $20, a universal MAY work and cost less. make sure you can return any universal you do buy in case you can't return it. Although for the dvd-925 system, the remote looks exactly like the one show in the manual for you dvd-915 model. Hope this helps.

I have a Coby dvd 505 home theater system and it's playing dvd's only in black and white Any suggestions?

There are a few possibilities. 1) You have the system on wrong broadcast system. Press the TV.Sys button on the remote. (In the US, you need the NTSC (analog) broadcast for older TVs). If you have lost the original remote, you need a replacement that matches the feature. See for a substitute remote. 2) You have mismatched cables/inputs.

For the second issue, a composite video cable could be connected to a component video input. If both devices have component video, get a component video cable (red, blue and green for the video, separate red/white cable for audio); it isn't included with the player. Otherwise connect to the composite (AV) connections on the TV (yellow for video, red/white for audio).

If needed, you can reset the player as follows:
1) Open the DVD tray.
2) Press the "Setup" button.
3) On the "Down" arrow, press it three times.
4) On the "Right' arrow, press it once.
5) On the "Down" arrow, press it three times
6) On the "Right" arrow, press it once, then press "Play/Sel" button.
7) Press the Setup button to exit.
*The default setting will take affect as soon as you press the setup button (step 6).

I hope this helps.

Coby DVD 925M

I have the same DVD unit in my new camper. The COBY customer support department said there is definitely a problem and should be shipped back to them with a Money Order for $18 for shipment/handling. Must include all speakers etc. Perhaps it will be less to purchase a more reliable brand name.
