SOURCE: No Prologic Surround Sound

im thinking the reciever is set to get its audio from somehwere other than the dvd, sounds like you did most of the troubleshooting but do you get audio out of the reciever if its just playing the radio or something other than a dvd?

Please check your TV settings and the optical cable.
The speaker icons disapper from LCD display when the receiver does not detect any input signal throught the optical/coax/hdmi cable.

RX-V365 doesn't support sound over HDMI. It can switch the video+audio from HDMI in to HDMI out, but can't play the sound through the speakers. You need to connect the audio separately via optical or coax digital cable.

I have an RX-V663 audio sounds flat

Let's deal with the turntable sound first - unless it's a self-preamplified model you would have to get an external phono-specific preamp to use with this receiver. Without one you'll get microscopically weak, tinny sound from the turntable. Google "RIAA curve" to see why.

As far as the CD sound through the Blu Ray player... for one thing it is flat, as in two-dimensional stereo. Compared to genuine surround from a movie it would be a letdown.

Can you better define 'flat'?

Enter the sound menu. Under the selection for extended surround, choose "on."
Then, under type select "EX/ES."

The way it is currently set for you, the movie software has to have a "flag" that your receivers' decoder must recognize in order for your rear surround speakers to function for a particular movie. Not all movies in DTS-ES or DD-EX have this flag encoded in it's software. So the rear surround channels would not be commanded by the software to be decoded and played automatically...thus requiring you to enable them yourself.
Setting it to "on" in the sound menu will take care of that problem.

Rx-v563 backround music much louder than people when watching tv

I would check your center speaker wiring and setting. Then switch to a different audio setting (pro logic, theater...)

Center speaker still not working :(

all your speaker channels are working so your problem lies with a setup fault. when you watch tv you are only feeding a stereo signal into the amp. you need to select the internal surround sound generator. you need to select either the movie or surround function. the unit will convert the stereo signal to 5.1 channel surround.

Surround sound from Sky +

To upmix 2-channel sound (such as that in a TV broadcast) into 5.1 sound, press AMP and then SUR. DECODE until "PL II Movie" is displayed. This will give you "cinema-like" surround sound from a 2-channel source.

You can also assign this to one of your "Scenes" by following the procedure for scene assignment on page 26 of your manual.
