Under the detergent side, there is a metering plate,(located on the machine) which can be removed. ensure that this is installed. have you verified whether the machine will dispense detergent only without any water in the water tank?

I cleaned the orifice for the detergent, the unit will not dispense water either. It appears from the parts diagram that there are 2 solenoid valves presumably one for each fluid. Detergent is dispensed on the forward stroke and on the return stroke the machine is supposed to dispense water. Do not have a wiring diagram to unserstand what actuated each valve or how the control system setects the direction the vacuum is moving.

This is most likely due to a problem with the solenoid on the rinse side not opening. The solenoid may require replacement.

http://www.hoover.com/pdfs/manuals/F7452900.pdf Heres a link to the manual if you dont have one, Ive emailed them and they gave me the same solutions that are on page 17. ? Make sure tank is securely locked in position ? Clean water tank or detergent container empty ? Refill container according to instructions for surface being cleaned ? Recovery tank lid not on correctly ? Make sure lid is firmly in place ? Valve cap clogged ? Remove and clean valve cap (see following instructions) 1. Remove clean water tank. 2. Turn valve cap (A) counterclockwise and remove. Soak valve cap in warm water for at least 15 minutes. Wipe cap dry. 3. Align slots (B) on cap with tabs (C) in opening. Turn cap clockwise to tighten.

Hoover Dual V steam vac model F7425-900 won't dispense detergent

Check the spring loaded valve at the bottom of the detergent bottle.
Push it up with your finger or a pencil or some such thing and see
if fluid comes out. If it does, then the problem is the valve or tubing I
would suspect.

Check that the switch is on autowash and not just on the rinse option. I see that customers do this alot.

I recommend to use the same detergent that came with the machine. Some detergents can cause problems such as damaging seals and causing build up. Hope this helps, post back.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You cannot replace the spring loaded value on the soap dispenser – it is a whole assembly and would need to replace the entire tank, you can buy them new or sometimes a local vacuum dealer may have a good used one on hand and that would work as well – check the yellow pages for a local vacuum dealer or Hoover dealer for replacement of the part.

There are no solenoids, but the valve and seal at the bottom of the tank may be bad part #43513026.

Detergent won't dispense

Check the valve at the bottom of the tank, does it push up then come back by itself (part #43513014)? If it is ok, then there may be a problem with the plate that the tank sits on or the plunger inside the handle isn't pushing to release the detergent.
