Hi there, sorry for late replay.

Ensure first that this is not just a bad reception problem check the antenna and video cable, and see if you get the problem on all inputs.

If you get the problem on HDMI connection, then it can be a defective HDMI cable, or a short to the Input/Output board.

Scattered dots on the screen, under all circumstances let think about a defective Video processor, a problem with light engine, or another minor fault affecting the video signal, I should see a picture to tell you more.

In one or the other case this will be an expensive repair. The worst is if it is the light engine, this is usually above $1000.

My suggestion is calling Samsung at the number listed on the owner manual, and getting a warranty extension that may cover the expenses.

Hi! Check the pixel settings for your projection tv and also try the focus settings of it. Also check for any electromagnetic induction i.e any power cable running near your samsung projection tv might be unsheilded. The last possiblity would be there is something wrong with the colour wheel or the dmd chip which is placed next to the lamp, so check the colour wheel whether it is placed firmly between the dmd chip(chip connected with mirror) and the lamp.

Thankyou

Take the back off and start with the brushy attachment to your vac hose. Clean everything. Then, remove the lamp housing and check the mirror and lens. Use a soft lint free cloth to gently wipe the surfaces.

Try hard reset .

Unplug the unit from power chord for 30 minutes and plug back the power chord to the unit .
This will reset your unit .

Have you cleaned the mirrors, screen, and lamp.

If your problem still exists after cleaning you need to replace the lamp and ballast .

  • SAM ANDERSON Jan 03, 2009

The light engine can also cause this problem stated by expert welcomejee. But replacing light engine will be costly .

  • SAM ANDERSON Jan 03, 2009

No it is not hard to clean wipe with cloth .

There are spots on the tV that are tiny white dots. It appears that some of the tiny bulbs have burned out and I wondered if it can be fixed. There are about 5 or six scattered across the screen.

This is a failing DMD board and is really not a user replaceable item. Please contact your local TV techncian for correct part number to be ordered and replaced.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !
