Have the remote tested to see if sending a signal---battery or problem in the remote if not----Google the RMY number to price a original only for this set.

When pressing the remote's 'on' button tv won't come on

does it power on using the power switch on the tv itself instead of the remote? if same thing happens when pressing the power on switch on the tv directly, try to test it on another power outlet. if it is connected through a surge protector or avr, see if connecting it directly through the outlet works.

try to also check if the power on switch of the tv is somehow stuck which may cause it to try to cycle on and off and same thing on the remotes on/off button.

now if this is specific to the use of a remote, replacing the battery might help.

The TV will turn on from remote many times and then won't turn on at all from the remote or directly from the TV itself so we end up unplugging the power which seems to reset the TV and then it

Having to unplug suggests a issue where the set is getting confused, if using any kind of box for signal or have a receiver in line remove power from all and after several minutes plug back.

Use the remote control to unlock the front panel controls by selecting the Lock Fr. Panel in the PARENTAL CONTROL menu and press OK (box won't have check mark).• Unplug the TV for two minutes and then plug it back in. Turn the TV on and try again.TV turns off unexpectedly • Sleep timer might have been activated. Go to page 24 for instructions.• KidPass might have been activated. Go to page 21 for instructions.• Wake-Up timer turned on the TV and no remote or front panel buttons were pressed for two hours.• Electronic protection circuit may have been activated because of a power surge. My 26" TV/DVD combo remote seems Kaputt. Nothing works from power up on. Of course new batteries added. Seems very weak design (composite buttons direct on PCB). Any solution or source for replacement...

Try a universal remote, however I would advice you to try the buttons on the set to check if it works. It might just be a problem with the TV itself..........sodeep

I want to program my remote control to work with my direct t.v.

Look in the user manual for your remote.
You should find a table with brands and types of devices.
Your direct tv should be listed as such.
There will be a number code for the direct tv that you will need to program the remote with.
The manual should also tell you what buttons to press in order to program.
Otherwise, have only the direct tv receiver ON.
point your remote at it and press the tv button and then the power button on the remote and hold it down while pressing the cursor up and down buttons. (not channel up and down. The up and down are the ones to select other things on the remote with.
When you have the right code the tv will shut off.
After it has shut off stop pushing buttons and then press the power button on the remote.
Your direct tv should now be programmed to turn on and off with the remote.
Note: be sure when you turn various devices on or off, have it selected for that devices you are trying to turn on or off.
