Question about Samsung LT-P227W 22 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

Open Question

On-screeen menu I have this set for little more than 2 years. It operates both as desktop monitor and TV. I always had problem with itsince day 1, it's losing the signal when on the standard non-HD input (but that's the one that allows P-i-P with the PC signal). It would totally disappear-replaced by the blue screen. This was relatively easy to fix-I just unplug the cable on the back for few secs and it always works. Lately all of a sudden when the on-screen menu button is activated; both from the remote and from the set,the picture would distort into scrambled diagonal stripes-sound is audible-OK and the menu buttons operate as much as you can see thru the scrambles, but basically the image is so distorted that noone can make what the menus read thus nothing can be done with the menus. All other buttons operate normally.Switching the menu off restores the normal picture, and there seems nothing else is wrong with the TV. Has anyone have any suggestions on this.I tried tinkering with the PC's video card, but to no effect Thanks

Sounds like it's on the wrong input, maybe it's analog tuner. Have you tried changing it's input?

How to activate USB on LCD TV LG's latest generation (LH2000, LH3000, LH4000)

When I got the TV, the LG LH2000, with a diagonal of 32 inches, I was a little disappointed when I realized
that the model that I bought does not work behind the USB port on your TV . I was explained that it is only
for service (software upgrades and the like). I did not beat your head too much and I accepted the
What would help me? I miss writing movies on CDs and DVDs. Copy just the files on a USB stick, insert it
into the port behind the TV, go into menu and select USB. It's like a DVD player. These days, I discovered
that I can retire the DVD player, because now I can enable the USB and still use it. How?
In a few easy steps.
1.Press the same time the OK button on remote and OK button on the TV and hold down for about five-six
2. Asking a password - using the buttons on the remote, enter 0000, then press OK
3. Upper left corner of your screen will show the service menu
Well, here's a little more complicated and should be recommended to strictly limit yourself to three
settings below. WARNING! Where do additional settings without knowing exactly what use, you are solely
responsible for the potential disruption of the TV and also for the possible loss of warranty!
Once the service menu appears, select the third option (number 2, named TOOL OPTION3). Do not confuse 2 with
3. The numbering starts with 0, not 1, will therefore TOOL OPTION3 will be numbered with 2.
In other words, select the option marked in yellow as the image on the right. I suppose you can select with
OK, but I entered in navigation settings press the "right" button on the remote.
Following two settings:

1. Once entered in the TOOL OPTION3 menu, select the EMF (JPEG, MP3) and using the "right" button of
navigation on the remote (to be clear, "right arrow"), select option 1.
2.A second, and final setting is highlighted in yellow in the image on the right. At DivX choose HD.
And now important!, In any form do not press OK from the remote! Press Exit button(Return), located in the
lower right-hand navigation menu.

What happens after these settings have been made? In TV menu will be two new options: Input and USB. We are
interested, at present, USB. What should I do to see movies? In this order:
1.Introduce stick into the USB port on the back of the TV
2.Press Menu button on your remote and select the USB
3.Select movie files (or something like that, anyway you got options for MP3 or photo) will open a variety of browser, similar to those on DVD players
5.Search for desired movie and press OK
Integrated player in LG television support DivX. I put a stick on an episode of TopGear and I saw with no
problem. Using left-right arrows, you can run the movie. For a typical player buttons (Play, Pause, Stop),
they use those colors (they are marked otherwise) on the remote.

AOC L24H898 - Several problems. 1)Only 3 Display modes - AV, HDMI, PC. 2)In PC mode screen is white with barely-discernable Desktop. 3) Menu button does nothing (pressing Channel + and - together lo

This sounds like a common problem on these TVs (it's happened to both of my AOC TVs a couple times). Try a factory reset:

1. Press and hold "Menu" and "Channel+" on the TV. (do not use the remote)
2. Using the other hand, press the Power button.
3. A small screen should appear in the top left part of the screen.
4. Using the remote, select "Memory Recall" and Enter.
5. Power off and reboot the TV and Computer.
6. Run channel auto-scan to regain the picture.

Video for my Acer laptop will not transfer to my 32 " Dynex TV . Have proper cord pluged into TV and computer and TV is sey on VGA setting ?? What my I be doing wrong ??

On your laptop, while it's plugged into the tv, hold down the Function Key and press the crt/lcd buttuon (Usually the F8 key)
That should cycle between the laptop screen and the tv.

If that doesn't work, Go into your Display settings,

greed03_5.png Where you see the 1 and 2
1 being your laptop and 2 your TV, Click and highlight the number 2 that's shown above.
In the drop down menu where it says "2. Generic PnP........." Click the drop down arrow and select your TV.
Below that, you can either use it as your main monitor by checking the first box. (This will bring up everything on your laptop screen to the tv. You will notice that your laptop screen will still be on too. It''s just cloned the display to the tv.

If you check the "Extend the desktop onto this display" You're laptop will be the main and your tv will be the extension of your laptop monitor....basically it'll be one big monitor.

If you use the extend option, all you have to do is drag and move what ever it is you want to see to the tv.

The way mine is setup, 2 on the left and 1 on the right. i can drag anything to the right of 2. if it was 1 on the left and 2 on the right, i can drag to the left.

if you run into problems like it's not dragging to the side you want, just click and hold on the highlited monitor and move it to the other side and click apply.

Any problems, give me a shout!

Hope this helps!

I connected my laptop to my LCD TV using VGA cable. I changed the mode to VGA external monitor. Image/video appear perfectly fine during start up. but right after windows logged in for like 5 second the...

Easy way:
Press and hold Fn key, and then look at the F1-F10 keys.. Most likely it is F7, and has a picture like a computer screen.
So, press and hold Fn key, and then press F7 (or whatever key it is for your laptop). This will change your "presentation" settings, and thus switch back and forth from laptop screen, laptop screen + external screen (TV), just external screen (TV).

If this doesn't work as you expect, just try:

Instructions for Windows XP:

Open the Display Properties window by:
Start -> Run -> %windir%\system32\control.exe desk.cpl,@0,3
(this is the same window where you can change screen resolution).

There you will see two or more "screens", labeled: 1, 2, 3.

Click on "1", and you'll see:

[X] Use this device as the primary monitor
[X[ Extent Windows desktop onto this monitor

Click on "2", this is your TV.. Mark

[ ]
[X] Extent Windows desktop onto this monitor

Then change the resolution to 800x600.
Click Apply

=> now your TV should start showing you a picture.
You can move your mouse between the laptop screen and the TV screen.

If you want just the TV, you can make "2" to be your primary monitor, by clicking on [X] Use this device as the primary monitor.

I have connected my old dell laptop to this TV with VGA cable and audio cable and it worked with no problem. Have new Acer Aspire one netbook- connected to computer with same cables - can see windows...

First, you want to make sure the laptop's internal/external display mode is set properly. On Acer netbooks, this is usually changed by holding the "Fn" key, and pressing "F5". Either the TV or the computer display should flicker when you do this. There are 3 modes:

1 Computer only
2 TV Only
3 Computer and TV

If changing between thos emodes doens't work, continue on.

I am going to assume you are running Windows XP. Please correct me if I am wrong.

To display your desktop on an external monitor, you'll need to change/check some settings. Your netbook is most likely attempting to set it's display settings automatically, but it is expecting a computer display, not a television, so the resolutions and refresh rates are conflicting. That's why it will only display on one and not the other. Before Windows loads, the netbook is using a very low resolution,so it displays on the TV. Once Windows loads, it switches to some non-standard resolution that your TV cannot display and defaults back to your netbook screen.

The solution is to find a resolution that your television will display:

1.Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.

2.In the DisplayProperties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

3.Click the Display list and select your external monitor (..the TV. It will most likely be display #2).

4.Select the Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor option.

5.Select 640x480 in the "Screen Reolution" section for Display #2.

6.Click Apply or OK.

Note: If you see the background change on your television, mmove your mous there to make sure it's working. If it DOES work, go back to the "Screen resolution" section for Display #2 and find the highest resolution your television will display

VGA hookup to my Toshiba Satellite

Set the TV input to PC (that's ViewSonic's term for the VGA port).

Setting the computer to output to the PC may depend on your OS (XP, Vista). Reboot the computer after connecting the monitor and see if new hardware is found. Reboot again if you have a flickering screen. In Vista, right clicking on the desktop brings up various video and desktop options. Choose Screen Resolution and look for the multiple monitors line. Click Apply and OK after setting your desired output. In the Screen Resolution window you should see two monitor boxes (labeled 1 and 2) if the computer sees the monitor.

If the second monitor is not showing up (no new hardware found), check your BIOS and device drivers to see if you need to enable or update the drivers for the VGA port. Check your manual for the BIOS (often it is click F1 or F2 before the OS loads; it's often tricky timing and I have to try repeatedly). Device manager will have a red x if the port is disabled; the exclamation point (yellow triangle) indicates driver issues.

I realize this is nearly a year after you posted your questions but I hope it will help the next person searching for answers on this TV.

What would cause that is failure of some part (probably a filter capacitor) in the set's power supply. The usual cause is component stress due to manufacturers keeping their costs down by using parts that just barely can stand their operating voltages. (Higher rated parts would last longer, but would cost more.) Some parts are just a little too weak and break down. It's not unusual to have this kind of problem these days. The set would be repairable unless there was physical damage to the circuit board itself. You might have it looked at and get an estimate for the repair.

Blank Screen/Powers up, Power LED can be switched from ON (Green) to STANDBY (Red)

Gateway was sued Class action over LCD's and Plasmas they sold over a 2 year period. They resell 3rd party TV's that were very faulty, an immature design.

Here's what I learned about mine, which makes it limp through as a Computer monitor (both DVI and VCA) and halfway functional TV.
You have to connect a DVI source, on the Main Menu for the DVI input there is an option called "Factory Mode". scroll down to it with the CH buttons and select it with the vol button. The scroll to "initialize eprom", select and confirm it. After the "Waitting" words disappear, make sure you have a TV source connected, Then turn the TV off and on, using the hard switch in the back. The TV input should be defaulted to channel 10 or 11 now But you select a TV channel that has no TV signal on it (like channel 1 for example) , the whole TV input side will refuse to let you select it again, and you'll have a blank screen and have to start over.

That takes care of the blank screen thing Now the other problem is parental control is defaulting to "ON" or something, and you can't program channels. With the TV input Main Menu engaged, select "Setup Menu." If you have this problem, then you'll only see 2 options, all the TV input and channel programming options will be missing. You have to select Parental Control, and when it prompts you for a password hit the volume > button 4 times (or just wait for a minute.) This should bring back your TV System and auto prgram/manual search options.

Unfortunately, my TV doesn;t remember these setting very well if I select cable, it does better if I select "AIr". But at least it funtions - kind of. If you switch to your computer input, you probably will have to switch the monitor off and on from the back panel again. Mine always starts up with the menu onscreen. All this might bve less trouble if you have a the remote, I don;t know where mine went after the last move.

Good luck, and hope this helps.
