Did you check your connections and did you use the recommended connector cables, usually this is the firs thing to check with the addition of new equipment.

SOURCE: set top box and remote control

My remote wasn't working until I programmed it to work with itself ... (how odd it wasn't done already).

"CBL" button and ""OK/SEL" held down simulataneously for 3 seconds ... then "001" for the Scientific Atlanta. If the unit turns off, you're in business.

SOURCE: HDMI connectivity

I have the SA8300HDC STB from Time Warner. I get this error from my DVD recorder, not from my HDMI connection. I've read that the error is due to copy protection. The only solution I've read about has to do with a new Samsung Set-top box from TWC. Funny this copy protection error didn't ever come up with my old VCR connection to the HDTV. TWC apparently told a lot of people that the problem would be solved by a software update from TWC in October 2007 & then in December 2007. Guess TWC isn't sure what the problem is but everyone who has mentioned this Samsung cable box has reported success with their HDMI connection.

SOURCE: Verticle lines on Samsung SP-R4232 Plasma

The spacing of the lines would help but the problem is likely stemming from a increasingly serious thermal problem.
Try this; it doesn't take long and might help confirm the thermal problem:
Use a portable fan sitting on a table (or the floor, if a floor-standing type) and aim the air flow toward the back vents of the set.
If this seems to accelerate the fading effect or eliminates the lines completely, then the circuit that controls the addressing of the vertical display is at fault.
If this is the case, the main board (or a subsidiary board for control of the X-Y axises) will require repair or replacement.
Contact the Samsung service people for pricing and available solutions.

Does not switch to its external speakers

You have a cabling and/or setup issue and need to check your hardware manuals (or find them online) for instructions.

I have a Samsung HT-C550, a DirecTV satellite box, a Vizio 37" HDTV, a Sony 5-disk DVD player and a Vizio Blu-Ray DVD player, all peacefully co-existing (with the use of a bunch of cables as well as a Logitech Harmony 700 universal remote).

The TV (not the home theater) controls the use of the TV speakers.

There are multiple options to get this to work. I run an HDMI cable from the sat box to the TV. (HDMI sends audio & video to the TV). I then run an optical cable from the TV to the CT550 and use the "D-In" setting to get the sound to play.

Instead of the optical cable from TV to CT550, you can run audio from the sat/cable box directly to the CT550 using (red/white) RCA cables from the "audio out" jacks on the sat/cable box to the "AUX1" or "AUX2" inputs on the CT550"

Hope this helps!!

I can't turn on closed captioning on Hitachi with Comcast scientific atlanta explorer 2200 cable box. Any words of wisdom?

Both the set and the box used should have the closed caption feature.

If box is in line to rear audio/video jacks you will have to engage the CC from the box.

I doubt it will work if hooked that way from within the box---go to menu and in CC area in either set or box select CC1 which is the most common one used.

I'm trying to hook up my Panasonic DVD player (model DVD-S29) to a Comcast cable box but have not been successful. My DVD player only has Audio Out connections, with no audio in connections. I...

the cable in should go to the box and cable out from the box to the TV.These should all be coaxial cables correct?Hook up the DVD player to the TV using the red, white, and yellow cables is also correct. In order to watch a DVD,you have to use the input select button on the remote for the TV ONLY to change inputs. If you have a universal remote for the TV and not the original factory remote provided with the TV,you need to use the menu button located on the outside of the TV.I just searched on my flat screen and was unable to find an input select through the menu button. It may not be possible on this TV if you do not have the original remote and if you own a universal. My universal for one of my older TV's is about 7 years old so I do not know if newer ones have an input select option. If they do not,it is most likely due to patents and royalty payments which these cheap remote makers do not want to pay.Anyhow, let me know if this helps.Just comment here and i will get an auto link to your comments.Good luck! Television Won't Display Certain Cable Shows

Okay,i assumed this is what you have:
HD cable box with HDMI cable connection to the Samsung TV.
Listen careful as follow:
First you want to make sure using the same HD comcast box with HDMI connection for our Samsung TV as well as your other TV.Be sure the other TV do received the missing channels from the Samsung TV.You must be SURE you have tested both TVs with the same HDMI cable with the SAME HD cable box.
Now that you have confirmed the both TVS are using the same HD comcast box and the same HDMI cable but the connection that goes to the Samsung TV are missing some channels,at this point, use another HDMI connection behind your Samsung TV and see if you have the same problem. If so,please also try the left side of the HDMI connection and see if you could get the other channels.
Let me know!

Coax from the cable box out to the VCR cable in.
Coax from the VCR cable out to your TV?

What connections does your TV have? RCA or coax?

LCDTV - Picture problem

Do the lines only appear on the Cable box input? It maybe be a problem with your cable. Try to isolate the problem.

Do you see the lines on all sources such as your DVD player as well? If you press the MENU button on the Sharp remote, do the lines go through the menu as well? If yes, it is most likely a TV problem.

A bunch of lines sounds like it is most likely a problem with the connection with the LVDS cable, if not that, then a defective main board.

There isn't really much you can do about it now.
Since the TV is less than a year old, I suggest calling Sharp to locate a local authorized service center.

Rca vcr

there a a bunch of different ways. 1) if you don't have a cable box hooked up to this tv,plug the main cable wire into the vcr input then the vcr outout to the tv.2) if you do have a cable box, plug the main cable into the cable box input, then the output to the vcr input, then the vcr output to the tv. put both the tv & vcr on channel 3 for this connection. [ you must have the vcr on channel 3 to record from the cable box!] 3) if you have aux line/video or source inputs on the back of your tv,you can hook up rca cables [ red, white,& yellow ] from the rca outputs on the vcr to the tv inputs.
hope this helps

Horizontal multicolored lines appearing

Open up the TV and unplug and re-plug the connectors to the circuit boards. This is most often caused by a poor connection of the circuit board connectors.
