Question about Frigidaire Gallery GLRT218WD Stainless Steel Top Freezer Refrigerator

Open Question

FRS6L7EES9 The "brain" in our fridge has died twice int he last 4 months. The first time we thought it was a power flicker (quick on/off for the entire house). Now we have woken up to it beeping, no temp readout, & is dead again. Repairman is at a loss as to what to do besides replace the "brain" again- I'm wondering if there is an underlying cause that can be addressed. I've entered the model # correctly, but our model is a side by side. Manufactured 8/2005. Thank you!

SOURCE: Frigidaire side by side - fridge side temp too low

It sounds as though your thermostat is not cycling your compressor off causing it to run until the point of freezing. If you sit and listen, you will hear it hum. If it never stops humming, 9 times out of 10, the power outage shorted your thermostat.

SOURCE: fridge & freezer are cooling on bottom but not

when you open the freezer door do you hear the fan blowing?sounds like the air isn't moving, there's also a damper on the fridge side, the door opens to let the cold air in and then closes, make sure the door is opening, you can take the cover off and put an ice cube on the twirled up metal part to close it and put your hand on it to open it to see if it's working

Kenmore refr/bottom freezer has quit freezing 3 times in last 3 weeks.

If the fridge is 10yrs old or more the newer models will pay for themselves with efficiency fairly quickly. now on to the "barking" that may be the fan motor(that blows air over the condenser fins) or the compressor the later i point you to my first statement. the fan motor can be lubed with a graphite type powder on the bushings, or replaced from one of the many parts places online eg: sears parts direct, repair clinic etc. RC has videos to help with some repairs too.

If you don't want to roll the unit out, then turn the circuit breaker off in the panel. The quick disconnect does not reset the electronics for the compressor. Try that and see what happens.
