Question about DVD & Blu-Ray Players

Open Question

I have a Panasonic SA-PT550 cinema surround sound/DVD system.

I can not play DVD's from other countries. I need the dvd player to be multi region. Is there a multi region code for this machine? If so, how do I get it?

Cheers,

Dave

SOURCE: anyone know the all region codes for Panasonic SA-PT875 dvd

HELLO!
The main problem with Panasonic DVD units is they are locked to a certain region. The vast majority CANNOT be hacked via the remote control unit and please be warned there some websites who offer strings of codes (with many many numbers) and they are not guaranteed to work - in fact - some can screw up your machine for good.
My advice: take it to a local service centre who will unlock your machine properly!
GOOD LUCK!

What is region 2

HELLO

REGION 2 is the DVD playback encoding for the UK, Ireland, Central and Eastern Europe to name a few. Your DVD player or recorder will be "Locked" to this region......unless you hack the machine to play ALL regions (to multi-region) the unit.

If you have a look on Wikipedia on the net, it will tell you all the region codes of different countries. (:-)

Trying to play dvd but says wrong region soneynhv-dx350ab?

Hi, if its saying wrong region. then either your player or disk is incompatable. region 1 ntsc ( USA ) Region 2 ( UK ) et,c. check your players region coding is compatable for your country, and that you are also playing a dvd with the same region coding as the player. alternatively is to try and find a region free or multi-region solution. DVDs are region coded. This means that they will only play on a DVD player from the region the DVD was produced to be watched in. For example, an Australian DVD is Region 4. It will only play on a Region 4 player. If you try to play it on a player that is set for a different region, it will probably not play. One way around this is to get hold of a multi region player. These are widely available. Alternatively, you should be able to watch the DVD on your computer, although you may need some region free software if your computer's dvd player has been locked. Usually computer DVD players will allow you to play DVDs from any region a few times and then they will lock to a particular Region Code. If you are in North America, you will need a PAL player. The only other thing you may be able to do is to unlock your existing player to convert it to region free. Many DVD players can be unlocked but you would need to find the unlock information for your paticular player. Hope this helps....

Philips 7" DVD portable player

The PET702 will be a region 5 machine, whereas the UK DVDs are region 2.

DVD players from a particular region are designed to play only DVDs from the same region, due to copyright and distribution rights in each country or region.

However the PET702 can have the region protection removed by making it multi-region:

Switch on the PET702 and Open the tray.

Press SETUP button on the remote control, which will bring up the menu.

Highlight "PREFERENCES" and press OK.

Press [2], [5], [2], [3], [1], [5], [LEFT], [DOWN]

The screen will show: "Region Code: 2"
Press [1-6] to manually set the region OR [0] for multi-region.

Press [SETUP] to exit winksmiley.gif

You will now be able to play DVDs from anywhere in the world.

This is particularly useful, because region 1 DVDs from the US often come out when the movies are still in the cinemas over here. Region 1 DVDs can be bought perfectly legally by mail order or from the internet.

Multi region dvd unlocker

This can only be done on some dvd players unfortunatly. They are locked to regions because of the video format types that vary from country to country.
