Usually if "no disc" the optical unit in the player is either dirty or bad.

If bad cheaper to buy a new unit as individual parts are not usually sold for this type of equipment.

The DVD player tried to read the DVD and stopped. It said H07 and then display reads STOP

Many Panasonic DVD units use a traverse unit (spindle motor/laser assembly) - and the H07 error indicates a failure of this component block (the spindle motor is the part of the unit which fails first).

This part is not repairable, it can only be replaced by a qualified authorised Panasonic technician - then it must be aligned and the firmware updated/configured to the player. The problem with this is the costs involved; a new spindle motor/laser unit (through Panasonic directly) would cost around $200 trade plus the labour/fitting/alignment - it could be a further $200 - making it uneconomical to fix - since this would be about the price of a new player.

However, you can submit the unit to a service centre, for a quote on the likely part/labour cost(s), then make a decision afterwards - whether to go ahead with the repair or cut your losses and buy a new player.

Blu-Ray players (with DVD playback support) are becoming cheaper to buy nowadays while repairs to DVD players become more expensive. It's up to you.

My panasonic dmr-es35v dvd player will not operate, It goes into a 'no read' mode also will not go into a stand-by mode

The 'No Read' error is the DVD-RAM drive - the laser and/or spindle motor assembly has failed. As for standby mode not working, that would be an issue with the main microprocessor on the motherboard which could be expensive to replace (manufacturers no longer provide individual components; they provide exchange boards if available), making the unit virtually uneconomical to fix. The cost of a replacement DVD drive could cost anywhere between $150 and $400 plus fitting and firmware upgrade/reset.

The 'lock-out' you describe, would probably be an issue between the PSU and the main microprocessor (as mentioned above). Because you also had a 'No Read' error from the DVD, this unit, sadly, is not really worth fixing - BUT, you can always take it to a service centre, to get a quote and second opinion on likely cost(s) involved, at least then you can make a positive decision afterwards as to whether you want to go further with it or not. Up to you.

When you add it all up, you may find the total cost(s) to restore this unit to original working condition (if that's possible) may exceed the price of a new unit which can do the same thing this one did when it was new around 4 or 5 years ago. You have too many faults with this one.

Whichever is cheaper and easier for you - don't waste money on repairs if the quote you get is too high - buy a new (or refurbished) one with (optional) extended warranty and/or extra features - but only as a last resort, and keep this unit's remote if you do.

Dvd no read error

The 'NoRead' error points to a faulty DVD-RAM drive. If the drive is making clunking/whirring noises, and taking too long to read an inserted disc, chances are the traverse unit (spindle motor/laser assembly) within the drive has failed. Unfortunately, this part cannot be replaced; you would need to replace the whole drive.

Look around for a good cheap used one, or, if you are prepared to do so, order a new drive (brand new DVD-RAM drives ordered through Panasonic could cost a couple of hundred dollars or more though so be warned). Check the model number on the top of the drive (prefixed with VXY before considering any replacement.

I have a Haier HLC19K1 19" tv/ DVD combo that

If you have tried more than one commercial DVD and are getting the same results then the problem is the player has failed. Actually what happens is the heads go out of alignment and it doesn't have the accuracy to read the tracks any more. This is a typical failure of dvd players in desktop and laptop computers and standalone players. While the heads can be aligned it isn;t worth doing. It was when a dvd or cd player was $1500 but not now.

Unfortunately the only cost effective fixes are replacing the dvd drive or replacing the entire unit. The replacement dvd would cost more than a new replacement tv/dvd combo. So you can buy a new tv or buy an external player ($40ish).

Dvd's are frequently freezing, digitaly breeking down and skipping. (dvd's are new and older)

First, try cleaning the lazer head with a CD/DVD laser cleaner. These only cost around £5 ($8).
If this doesn't make any difference, I'm sorry to say that the lazer output has become too weak to read the discs and the only way to fix this is to have a new laser head unit fitted.
If your player is a top-class Pioneer, this WILL be very expensive, but in any case it will cost around £50 ($80) to replace.

You may have to consider buying a new DVD player!
