Question about Frigidaire GLER341A Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Very hot to touch on top

My dryer gets very hot on top on the right hand side. We have cleaned lint traps, opened up the top and vacuumed everything out but still gets extremely hot (can't lay your hand on it for long).

Sounds like you have a clogged vent hose or clogged duct work leading to the outside of the home. Make sure you have no obstructions in the exhaust system including a functioning flap on the outside wall cap.

When i pull out the lint trap and stick my hand in as far as i can, i can feel a large buildup of lint and I don't know how to get to it

you will need to open then dryer up and with a brush(paint or another soft bristled brush) and vacuum remove all the lint, might as well clean the vent tube out, here is a website that will show you how to open it up, Good Luck Tim:

My dryer is heating up but it takes a long time to dry.

If the clothes are coming out wet and hot after the first cycle then there is a blockage in the exhaust. This blockage could be at the lint trap or at the exhaust tube leaving from the back of the dryer. You need to check the lint filter area by removing the lint filter and with a flashlight look into the area where the lint filter was to see if there is any build up of lint. If so, you will need to clean this area. Also at the back of the dryer there is a hose that comes from the dryer to an outlet to the out side. This hose could be clogged with lint or possibly kinked to where the proper amount of air flow is not allowed to leave the dryer therefore causing the clothes to have to dry longer. Check these two areas first before going any further due to these checks are simple and may solve the problem.

Good luck hope this helped

Dyer really hot, not drying clothes

Is the dryer tumbling? If not, you may have a broken belt or some other drive assembly issue.

Also, turn the dryer on and go outside to the vent discharge - you should feel air coming out at a pretty good clip. If not, the vent line is obstructed and will need to be cleaned out.

Kenmore dryer 110-66652501 runs but does not

did you clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into?you still have a block somewhere and sounds like you popped the thermal fuse part 3392519,unplug dryer take off vent line and remove the back panel, take out the 2screws on top of dryer and remove lint filter,on left side remove the 4 screws and remove the duct, clean it out,to the right of it and around 4 inches up from floor you'll see the white thermal fuse, read it out with a meter, also if you have a long vent line from the wall to the outside blow it out with a leaf blower and make sure the outside flapper is blowing fully open

I CAN HAVE MY DRYER ON THE HOTTEST SETTING AND IT GETS HOT BUT TAKES LIKE 3 TIMES THROUGH A CYCLE TO DRY MY STUFF

I would first pull the exhaust hose or pipe off and check for blockage or a kink. If its getting hot then its probably an air flow issue. Also make sure the lint trap is clean. Sometimes you can get the crevice attachment for a vacuum down in the lint trap area far enough to clean any excess lint out. Check where the dryer exhausts outside for a blockage like maybe birds nest or bees hive. I hope this helps.

Lint fell down the lint trap. How do I get it

Luckily, dryers are light. Best thing to do is pull it out until you can remove the back cover. (unplug it first) Then vacuum and clean all the dust and lint you can. This should be a yearly thing at least anyway. Replace the back plug it in and slid it back. I do mine every 6 months or so.

Dropped bleach pen into lint trap. How do I get it out?

its not too hard to get out.
you will need a #2 phillips screwdriver and or a 1/4" socket driver
remove lint trap
remove 2 screws at lint trap
unplug unilt
open the top (2 clips between lid and front panel in the crack, push them with a butter knife or putty knife to release top) opens like a hood
pull out dryer and pull off rear panel
on the left hand side there is a metal duct like thing lol
that leads to the lint trap at the top.
there should be 4 screws at the bottom where it gets round.
remove them, and wiggle the duct open. your pen should be there..

Odor around the lint trap, cleaned but persists

The lint trap is an opening into the dryer vent and vent pipe. The dryer needs to be pulled out from the wall, the vent pipe disconnected and then the back of the dryer and the entire pipe cleaned of lint and other debris. this is the only way to get rid of the odor.

Frigidaire electric dryer; model # FDEB34RGS1- gets TOO hot!

I could not find the model number you listed. I also would be very concerned about over heating until we can find and locate the problem. Look inside the door and compare number with the on listed here at Fixya. Thanks, Sea Breeze
