Have rented the pt630 to do some large scale stock-taking after Christmas. Over-zealous colleague pressed something on scanner; now the only thing that comes up is a message saying:
PT360 BIOS V1.91
MEM 2560 KB
Anything we enter comes up as a BAD COMMAND. We've been trying to reach the helpline number but no-one's picking up. As we only have the scanner for the weekend (and it's usually a fairly simple process), we were never sent out a manual.

When printer resets or gets print que changes. The machine resets to a default 4x6 card stock glossy. Its telling you that your paper size is not correct. Right top corner is menu or settings. You need to be very careful in comparing yourself with your colleagues who might be better qualified, more experienced and more senior in your current work place.
If you believe that you have the same attributes as your colleagues, nicely but firmly ask for a 'salary review' based on 'industry going pay scales' (get supporting documentations such as job ads) an/or your current 'higher' duties ... but be prepared to look for another better paid position in another company!
There may be a number of reasons for the 6312 failing to keep your settings, the first thing to identify would be that you have changed the settings on the printer and then saved these settings. If you do not save the settings to a menu / configuration they will be lost if the printer is powered off or receives a reset command.
Once you have made your settings changes, the settings can be saved in the following way;
Ensure the pritner is OFFLINE
Press Menu Press Up Arrow until display shows Config Menu Press Enter Press Up Arrow until display shows Configurations Press Enter Press Up Arrow until display shows Save Press Enter Press Up Arrow until the Config Number Or Name appears that you want to save the settings to (Default is Confg 1) Press Enter Press Clear, to return to Offline mode.
If you save your settings you can then print a configuration report to see the values that have been saved, this can be done in the following way;
With the printer OFFLINE Press the Menu key Press any Arrow key until display shows Config Menu. Press the Enter key. Press any Arrow key until display shows Printer. Press the Enter key. Press any Arrow key until display shows Report. Press the Enter key. Press any Arrow key until display shows All Configs. Press the Enter key and the configurations will be printed.
This should show your saved settings, try powerign th epritner off and back on again and again print the Congfig report to check the settings are retained.
If you find the settings appear to change when you print to the printer this will be caused by your print job, escape commands in the print job will take presidence over the printer menu settings.
You would need to check the host computer system to see what might be causing the problem; chack page size, fonts, ensure the correct printer driver is used etc on the system.
That message which your scanner is displaying is the normal and correct mode in stdby, there is no problem with it.
If the scanner says "bad command" is because you are pressing the "enter" (ENT) key without any command selected before.
