- I hate defender and I disable it and run a different program Adware Pro and spybot, instead of defender, defender has been the cause of problems on more than 1 occasion. Did the newlly formatted drive run after installation or has it been a problem from the start, if it has bee a problem from the begining, it sounds like a driver issue, what motherboard are you running, and do you have the right motherboard, sats, etc, I used Driver genius available here,http://www.hashhu.com/, you would have to join the site "fof free" then could have access to the software mentioned, I know that site well and have been on it for a dozen years, i't's up to you weather you want to pay for a driver checking program that you will likelly only use once or twice, but I am a tech and it still found 25 driver updates in my SLI machine. Sli runs dual 7900gt's. So it's up to you I can tell you that I never got any infection of any kind from anything on that site, good luck, and if it works for you please all I ask is that you rate it higher, it affects the way we get compensated, thanks, and I think the driver thing is what it isJan 03, 2009
- Ok, see now we are getting someware, if we need to do this one line at a time ,i'm here, First - Did you fdisk or formatt the drive before the install?Jan 04, 2009
- There is one thing left to try, can you get to the motherboard, if so, then jump the cmos and pop out the battery for 5 minutes, if after you put it back together it still does the same thing, then it is something internal with the board, also if you still are under warranty with it. Then don't go any farther, as taking it apart will void and warranty yo may have. I am really stumped on this, other than a real bad trojen that came along for the ride on the lats format. Just so you know, and you sound like you know more than most, unless you fdisk a drive I have seen an infected drive formatted and still have the infection. The only way to really get it out is to FDSK it. But try the cmos thing first. If you were local I could tell with a couple of diagnostic programs I have, but that is the only problem with doing repairs through a website. I fixed a couple of fellas laptops last week and needed to have them restart to change settings, and I didn't realize that once they were out of the cue, I wasn't able to get them back, until I searched through the entire cue, Duh
