SOURCE: 1986 VW Golf heater blows cold air

The heater in your car depends upon a flow of hot coolant going through the heater core in order to get hot air into the car. If the heater core is partially plugged, it will restrict the flow. If you have a head gasket that is putting exhaust into the cooling system, it will eventually get into the heater core. When this happens there is no coolant in the heater core to make the air warm. If the water pump vanes have corroded away the result will be very poor coolant circulation causing the heater to not blow hot air. If your car is equipped with a heater control valve that is not functioning properly, the coolant flow will be restricted. One or a combination of these factors is likely the culprit in your case.
if the car is not overheating, the thermostat is working fine.... replace or flush the heater core multiple times to try and eliminate sediment build-up.

Hey mate i think your problem is the air flow mass sensor its a black box which its on to the big hose that gose in to you air filter it has a wire with a multiplug on it . you can disconect this then take ur car for little drive few miles and if the car is not being wore than it was before you need to go buy one quite expensive

SOURCE: Air-conditioning not icy cold inside my VW Passat TDI 1996

chances are if you system was serviced by modern equipment then they would have pulled a vacuum before recharging .. that would eliminate moisture in the system .. the evaporator is inside your heater box .. you cant see it .. the condenser is the radiator like device in front of your engine cooling radiator ..

if the system is changed properly and still does not work or works intermittantly . then there is a good chance that the air conditioner clutch electronic module is bad .. thats a relay like device located on the drivers side behind the dash .. you have to snap off the dash side panel .. its normally hidden by the door .. inside that is the fuse panel and behind that is the relays/electronic modules .. the one that operates the air conditioner clutch is marked 384 .. there are other possibilities depending on your a more precise description of the problem ..

SOURCE: vw golf gti internal fan not working

there is a fan resistor which controls the speed of the fan, which is probably burnt out, should be located near the fan motor, behind glove box.

SOURCE: how to open the fuse box in my VW Golf Plus

Usually a small flat screw driver wedged under the plastic covers should help you pry it open.
FYI If a fuse blew it went for a reason. ( old age on a 3yrs old car isn't a reason).

My Vw golf TD auto air con. Baffles get stuck so no air can come through. Fan seems to be working ok., so does the air con itself. Mechanic having trouble working out how to fix, any help very welcome.

the baffels have foam arround the edges.
the foam breaks down and gets stuck all through out the duct systen.
try removing the all the flow vents and then blasting the duct system with compressed air,you could also try one of those "lint lizards" attached to a vaccume cleaner to try and get out all the loose foam floating arround the duct system.
Good luck,Gary

Have you had the blend door motor checked to make sure it is working and shutting off the heater core air flow? I would suspect this may be the problem. Also have the pressures checked on the low side they should be about 28 PSI to provide cold air, if they are you have another issue like above.

Do you have fuel pressure? If you havent checked you need to get a fuel pressure gauge and make sure you fuel pump doesnt fall flat when you increase demand for fuel.

I think fuel pumps have been getting more and more problematic over the past few years due to who is making them!

The condensers are infamous for developing leaks on the VW's. Before replacing Compressor have the shop do a vacuum test on it to make sure its holding pressure. If a compressor is bad the system will still hold vacuum. If the system does not hold vacuum then the problem is not compressor but in the condenser or lines with a leak. Have the shop do a leak test on it ONLY after vacuum test.

Air in fuel line between fuel filter and injection pump 1993 VW golf Diesel Return fuel from injection pump to fuel filter is foamy Supply line has large air bubbles. Engine start and runs intermittent.

Hi, before the pump it is a loose connection or maybe a pin hole in the pipe, check all the connections and pipes for seepage, after the pump it will be a leak, i knowit sounds the same but after the pump the fuel is under pressure. It would appear that your system drawing air rather than forcing air in. daveg

The air con causes the coolant lines and other parts to frost over during use, when you stop the frost and condensed water are thaw and become water again. No Problem.
