Bruce, if you are talking about a vacuum cleaner, you want an exact replacement switch. They're not too costly.

I have the Hoover U6485900 and the brush rollers keep spinning even when the vacuum is in the upright position. I have replaced both belts hoping that would fix it. Help!

depending on your exact model this is supposed to happen even when it is up right since the vac motor does two things besides just sucking up dirt but in order to prove that i would need some photos (photobucket links or any other imaging online service is welcome to be used to see the exact model vac it is) now if it has like a two stage mode switch in this model it could be that the two stage switch is a lil bad but i have seen where people have done mini mods to save cash and sort of make their own sorta two stage switch with two switches and a bypass to just run the main motor for sucking up dirt

Dc7 keeps turning off

Assuming you mean the motor runs for a short while after switch on, then cuts out, this is indicative of a faulty motor - it has an over-current sensor that shuts off to prevent overheating and possibly fires.

You need to have the motor replaced. It is possible to do this yourself if you have very good DIY skills and tools, or a repair shop should be able to do it for a reasonable fee. Replacement motors are available on eBay, and if you search YouTube, there are loads of "how to" videos on this sort of stuff.

Where is the reset button on a dyson dc41 ?

There is no such thing as a reset button on a Dyson.

If you have a problem where the motor cuts out shortly after switching on this is indicative of a faulty motor - it has an over-current sensor that shuts off to prevent overheating and possibly fires.

I have hoover S3670055 when I turn it on the power head does not come on when when you press the switch on

I too am having difficulty. Everything seems fine electrically. I only get about 350 mv AC Power with the switch off and 1.7V AC with the swiitch on. I would think the power brush head would require DC voltage of some sort.. Like 12V???

Is this some sort of special switch? Are you concerned with cosmetics?

If not, Just find a spst switch, drill a hole next to the one where the old switch was and replace. Of course, make sure there is room for your 'new' switch first.

I took my Kirby G4 outer covers off, vacuumed the inside to remove the dust and now it refuses to turn on. Is there some sort of redet switch?

I'm pasting this from another solution I posted. Hope it helps:

There are a few things to check:

There are safety switches mounted on the body of the machine designed to prevent the machine turning on when it is not fully assembled. Ensure that your bag unit is snapped completely into place, (with the rear of the emptor assembly nearly flush with the body of the machine,) and that the front nozzle assembly is mounted correctly.

Also check that the power cord (immediately aft of the bag unit,) is pushed completely into the machine.

If the switch does not feel responsive, it can either be that the little metal "pole" (for lack of a better description) is not attached to the main switch assembly correctly, which will require you to open the entire housing to check.

Those are the simple things to check, otherwise it may need a switch, cord, or motor replacement. Checking continuity on these items with a VOM will allow you to determine the cause.

On / Off switch

Had the same problem and found that the interior switch was to stiff and the plastic activator would just pass over it. Solution was to pull the three screws that ho;d the activator switch, pull the interior switch and replace it. This is a lot easier than it sounds.
