SOURCE: Purchased a sf-610 today floor model, no manual

Hi, I would start with the store where you bought it. Sounds like you got an incomplete unit. If not, they may be able to get a manual out of another unit. Don't see any manuals on line but 1-800-330-0388 is their phone number for customer service. Explain to them the situation and ask for technical services. They should be able to send you a manual and answer any questions you have on the unit. Write them all down before you call them. Hope I have helped. kstfas

SOURCE: Need help installing filter pump model 635 for my swimming pool

Just go to the Intex Corp link below. Choose the appropriate pool and/or pump. At the bottom of the page you will see a link for instructional manuals and videos. Hope that helps.

http://www.intexstore.com/ProductList.aspx?categoryID=30

Oh yeah, by the way...you may want to start looking around for another pump for that pool if you plan on using it more than a year. I have had mine for 3 years and I spend more time in the pool vacumming than I do in the house!! The 635 pump is not strong enough for the 18x52 pool nor does it filter out fine silt and sand...it sucks it up and spits it right back into the pool thru the return. Good luck to you

Trying to put pump system together. Do we remove the drain screen before adding sand?

Our terminology is not coinciding...
Follow these steps...
  • 1st - understand that a pump moves water thru your system.
  • A filter cleans your water
Sand does not go into a pump.
sand goes into the filter.
  • when adding sand into filter tank, top valve is not in place, you Need to first add water, to cover the laterals at bottom
  • Then PLACE a cap or something/anything, over the stand pipe, so NO sand goes into that pipe! IMPORTANT! Begin to add sand.
    • Do this slowly, being very careful to NOT disturb position of stand pipe! Do NOT Lift it or allow it to rise up! Keep it centered!!
  • Add required amount of sand
  • Remove stand pipe cover/cap that placed
  • Install valve onto tank
  • Complete plumbing in-out of the valve
    • Presuming you have the plumbing complete from and to pool?
    • Pool suction port to front of pump. Out of pump into 'Pump' port of filter valve
    • Out of 'Return' port to pool
GOOD LUCK

What is the recommended end-of-season maintenance for the chlorinating pump?

According to the Intex website, the following maintenance is required for this product:

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems are designed to operate with a minimum amount of maintenance. It is recommended to always turn the pump on prior to turning on the Saltwater Pool System (see Owner's Manual) unless the chlorine generator is part of a combination pool and filter set, to ensure that air pockets are eliminated from the hoses, and that water is flowing through the unit. In addition, the electrolytic cell should be examined and cleaned if necessary. The frequency of cleaning will depend on the local water conditions, pool usage conditions, and length of time the Saltwater Pool System is operated each day. (See Owner's Manual.)

The Intex Saltwater Pool Systems contain several features that minimize maintenance requirements:

1.) An automatic self-cleaning cycle: The Saltwater Pool System automatically undergoes a self-cleaning cycle to maximize the operating length of the electrolytic cell.

2.) Safety diagnostics: the Saltwater Pool System will alert the operator to three conditions that could result in poor operation: Low water flow through the unit, Low Salt level in the pool water, High salt level in the pool water. If any of these conditions exist, the system will sound a buzzer, and flash a digital code on the control panel (Model 8110) or a Red LED will light up. (Model 6110).If the condition is not addressed, the system will automatically shut itself off to prevent damage to the unit.

Vacuum gone slow moving. All parts have been checked and filter cleaned. No improvement in suction.

You need to check your water flow with the water flow gauge. The black disk should be between the min and max settings. If it is indicating a min reading, that is indicative of a problem with your pump and filter system and not the pool cleaner itself. You will need to check your pump to make sure that it is primed and operating correctly.

Need instructions for proper start up/operation of filter

For the actual filter try this manual:
https://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/Manual145.pdf

For the valve atop the filter try this one:
https://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/manual18.pdf

If these are not the same as what you have please add a comment with the model number off your filter tank label and your valve.

How do I turn on the heat and the spa in the pool?

You must first make sure the filter pump is on and running (primed). If you have a pool spa combo, you will need to turn on the heater by making the desired temperature higher than the current temperature. This is a call for heat. You must then move the suction and return valves to **** and return to the spa. This is accomplished either by moving the valves manually or by putting it into spa mode if you have a control system. You didn't say whether or not you have a manual or automatic system.

Need to know how to backwash the pool filter

Depends ...

There are two primary valve styles ... a "multi-port" and "push-pull". Never change a valve setting with the pump running.

Multiport has a handle that goes around in a circle (only move it clock-wise). You should go to your pool place to identify this kind of valve and get new lables. Push-pull goes up and down. Up is filter - Down is back wash.

If you will study your system, some things will become evident to you .

Your pump pulls water from the pool through the pump ... out of the pump into the filter. Through the filter, back to the pool. You might be heating the water (would be after the filter) and you may be adding sanitiser (after the heater). One suction - two discharges (oh, the other discharge is to waste.).

Recap ... water out of the pool into the pump - out of the pump throuth the control valve to the filter - out of the filter to the heater then to the sanitiser then back to the pool.

Any help?
