Adjust your clutch pedal free play (clearance). It should be around 12mm only.

SOURCE: Hyundai tucson clutch

Thank you for the request. Since the car only has 24,000 miles on it, I would take it back to the dealer. It does sound like that your clutch needs an adjustment of some type. Since I do not own a Hyundai I have no idea what the actual problem might be. I just did some research and found out that the clutch in your car is hydrolic (meaning that it uses a master and slave cylinder with hydrolic fluid to push the clutch arm when you push the clutch pedal with your foot). Trying to work on this type of clutch system can sometimes be a very hard to do. With the small amount of miles your car has on it, I would get the dealer involved in solving this problem. It could be something as simple as bleeding air from the hydrolic system of the clutch or it might be replacement of either the master cylinder, the slave cylinder and/or the fluid line that goes in between those two cylinders.

Much good luck in fixing this problem.

SOURCE: Clutch pedal sometimes engages when near floor

Hi. Let me try to lend you a bit of assistance, also.
My fellow expert Benimur is very correct with his input to you.

But...Air does not get into your clutch hydraulics unless the fluid has leaked out at some point. As long as the cylinders and tubes are intact, I would doubt that air is the issue. Short of pulling the transaxle, and inspecting the clutch, there is really no other way to determine your issue properly.

Personally, I think that you haven internal problem with the clutch assembly. It could be worn fingers on the clutch plate, a worn clutch disc, or something as simple as the throwout bearing is hanging up on the input shaft collar.

If Beni's suggestions does not help, you are going to need to pull the trans off, and inspect the clutch items mentioned above.

Thanks for choosing FIxYa, we wish you the best of luck; let us know how it turns out.

SOURCE: 1991 Toyota pickup 4WD clutch slipping

There is an adjustment for the clutch pedal under the dash where the push rod goes thru the firewall. There is only aprx. 1/2" of adjustment so be careful when making an adjustment, if your clutch is slipping then you need to shorten the throw of the push rod.

hi considering age of car and that you have no leaks on hydraulics? may i suggest you try bleeding the clutch to rid of old fluid a couple of pumps may be suffice ? b/fluid does absorb moisture and heat over time hence recommendation tat fluid be changed at period specified in handbooks ie 12 monthly ?

Clutch pedal fully extended (up) and won't disengage clutch. Happened relatively suddenly.

This may be two possible issues. If your transmission grinded in the past your transmission may have finally given up the ghost. Also your clutch disk may be broken or worn to the point where you can no longer shift. It seems like the latter your going to have to replace your clutch if your a big on doing it yourself a clutch kit is 400$ at autozone. It may be cheaper online good luck I hope this helps

Clutch adjustment on 2005 Getz

if it's got a cable, it is set too tight. if it's been that way for months, then adjustment will probably be fruitless as the clutch plate is probably already worn. loosen the cable nut about two or three full turns and it will engage the clutch about halfway of its travel

Clutch problem on Audi A3. Clutch only engages in top third of travel and does not slip. When clutch is fully depressed however it still drags and I cannot engage a gear. Switch off the engine, engage...

Engaging in the top third of pedal travel isn't unusual.

Clutch drag can be caused by a worn or broken diaphragm, damaged pressure plate, worn or damaged withdrawal mechanism or contamination of the driven plate, among other things...
There are two other causes of clutch drag worth considering - rusted or damaged first motion shaft splines or a bad clutch pilot bearing, if fitted.

In all cases the transmission will have to be removed for access.

Clutch problem

Is your truck of the vintage that will be able to start in gear (1st) with the clutch in? If so, then try that and then lift the clutch to see where it engages. If it engages at the very bottom, and the rest is play, then clearly you have an adjustment issue. If the clutch catches at near normal like on inch+ off top end pedal, then you may have a high idle issue together with bag syncs. Where does it feel like it engages when the engine is off? Does it feel normal with only the top end play light, or does it feel light throughout the pedal?

When I release the clutch pedal, the clutch bites/engages immediately. There is hardly any travel and the pedal feels slack. Will I need a new clutch?

No it just needs adjusting. Don't adjust it very tight adjust until the preasure comes on the pedal about half way up or where you are comfortable with it. Cheer's

I have a 2001 Jetta VR6. The clutch has very little play

so it engages at the end of the push or just when your foot is about to leave the pedal if it is all the way to the end when your foot is down to the floor this could mean that you have a leak in your slave cylinder or the clutch is just about to the end of its life. repair would be replacement.

Check fluid level on clutch reservoir. Check also for any leaks at the clutch clyinders and lines. if it is low on fluid, or you have to drain fluid, remember to bleed the clutch.Have somebody pump the clutch and turn the clutch bleeding screw until only fluid comes out.
