Well, Bad news, but E1 is an error code that means something is internally wrong inside the unit. It may be cheaper in this case to just replace the player..

At first, I thought you might be using S-Video cable to connect, and hadn't changed the default "Video Input" to "S-Video In" but that's for E1.

E2 only takes the Yellow "Video In" so you must be using it for your Video connection?

I'm was wondering if your Video > Video Input menu is set for "S-Video In" and it's affecting both E1 and E2, but a test disproved that possibility?

Hi ephesians3_2

E1 is the rear composite/S-Video+L&R audio input and E2 in the front input. To change the source, top left side button on the remote.

so something is wrong with the rear part of the player, either the player itself has a problem or something that is hooked into it is causing this error to show up.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the error code "E1" could refer to a stuck disc or tape inside. Try unplugging for a few minutes. Press and hold the POWER button while plugging in. Alternately, normally power it up and press & hold the eject button.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

It looks like a standard DVD but is written in a different data format. They aren't using ISO or UDF from what you're showing me, since windows can only read ISO or UDF you need to just get an app that doesn't care what the format is - that may work.

There are 2 options, one is to use the GC as the reader and dump the files to your PC (not sure how you would do that) the other *may* work using a DVD reader app that will read either the GC format.

The big problem I see is the encryption and it may just be that's the reason why you can't read it, thus you have to crack that then ZV420MW8/DVD/VCR WONT WORK.. - frown.gif No way to do this unless you can program, assume you can? Then you need some hardware info for the GC.

There should be a way to copy them...playing them may require a modchip.

The unrecoverable errors are do to encryption, like a CSS disc no you can't recover those for sure it isn't reading the sectors

E! appears a detection of harmful error, you need to replace your unit because it cannot cure anything because the E1 error is changing and deleting all the program on your unit

E1 would indicate the External 1 connection if you browse channels up or down you might get E2 which would be the external connection 2.

Recorded pictures onto a DVD on my computer, they won't play on the ZV420mw8

I looked up your DVD player's model number online. It is not equiped to read picture files (.jpg, .bmp, etc.) You have to be carefull when you transfer pictures to a DVD on your computer. If you just burn them to the disc, most DVD players wont be able to read the information. Frequently you have to use a program like Microsoft Movie Maker to get them in the right format.

You may have to start over and use a DVD making program to make them a video and not just picture files.

Hope this helps! Don't forget to rate!

I have my Samsung model dvd V9800 hooked up to my RCA RT2906. The dvd side is showing a picture but the video side is not. The RCA RT2906 has have a hook up for a vcr player by it's self but I do not think...

Hi,
VCR video signal wont come out from Component Video Out of combo unit, it is low resolution signal so you need to hook yellow-red-white video cable in tv for VCR output.
Make sure to select VCR as source in combo while playback of VHS tape and select DVD as source when playing dvd disc in combo.
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

I have an older TV with only an antenna hook-up, a VCR, a DVD recorder and a converter box that I would like to hook all together. I can get the VCR to work, but don't really know how to hook the DVD...

Try this. You will need 2 RF cables and a RCA cable that has a red, black, and yellow plug on each end.
  1. Plug the antenna signal into the converter box.
  2. Connect the RF output (TV out) of the converter box to the RF input on the VCR
  3. Connect the RF output (TV out) on the VCR to the TV
  4. Finally, plug the DVD recorder into the converter box also, but use the 3 RCA cables that came with it (audio left, right and video).

My non-tech friend hooked up a new DVD player, but can't get it off Spanish...

You didn't explain why you can't. No manual? You follow the instructions but they don't work?

I'll assume the basic, no manual.

If it's the VCR then do the following...

Turn it on and press the VCR button at the top of the remote.
Then press the SETUP MENU button.
Then highlight SETUP on the screen and select it.
Hightlight LANGUAGE SELECT and follow the instructions in the yellow box to change.

If it is the DVD then do the following...

Turn it on and press DVD at the top of the remote.
Then press the SETUP MENU button.
The big 'A' should be highlighted at the top left of the screen.
Move the highlight to the right to MENU LANGUAGE.
Then move it again to the right to ENGLISH at the top of the list.
SELECT English and press SELECT MENU again.

That should do it.

Can't get hooked up so it ALL works vcr, converter box, dvd...

If the DVD works through this "box". Things are looking alright. There must be a number of inpus or hookups to connect VCRs or DVDs or what ever to this "box" that then allow you to hook tp the TV.
If this is the case there has to be a way to swithc the box to the different things hooked to this box so that you can see& hear them.
I do not know what this box is, but can only guess you need to get the manual or more info on how it works.

If you can try to hook each one of your pieces seperately to the box.
First unhook the DVD that works, and hook the VCR. If works, unhook the VCR and hook up the the enxt piece. That way you'll know if each of them is working.

No color and sporatic play on VCR mode, with zv420mw8

If this problem happened within a few seconds, you probably have dirty heads. If It happened slowly you could have an alignment problem. Both of these problems should be repair professionally.

I cannot record using a DVD/VHS player.

You can record. From antenna to converter box, from converter box to vcr. From vcr to TV.
TV on Channnel 3 VCR on channel 3, and set channel on converter box. Then Record.

Time recording works the same way, but you can set for only one channel at a time. Tht is the only restriction that I have not overcome. The converter box sets the channel. Gee Whizz
