Verify internet connection-not connecting

reset the router by holding in the reset button for 15 to 20 seconds, then wait for all lights to return. If you have DSL wait for the dsl light to be on solid, once thats complete if your using vista and still unable to connect run "diagnose and repair". If after that your still unable to connect, open "run" type "cmd" and hit enter....the type "ipconfig" and hit enter, you should get an ip address, subnet and default gateway. one at a time type "ping" hit space bar 1 time then type the ip address in as shown in the list and hit enter, if 4 return then ping the default gateway, if it returns 4 then ping www.yahoo.com, if return 4 then remove Norton or Mcafee from your system and try again.

Hello,

okay, follow the below steps:
  1. click start menu and go to control panel
  2. Click internet option from your control panel
  3. A dialogue box will pop out, the click connections
  4. Click LAN settings and click "Automatically detect settings" and press OK and try again.
If the problem is not still solved, go back to control panel and click "Networking and sharing center", look by left of the page and click "Manager network connections", right click on your network connection and click properties. Wait for a dialogue box to pop out, click networking, remove "internet connection version 6 (TCIP/IPv6) and select "internet connection version 4 (TCIP/IPv4), press OK and try again.

If it still does not work, go back to the "internet connection version 4 (TCIP/IPv4) double click on it, a dialogue box will pop out, then select "Obtain an IP address automatically", look down and also select "Obtain DNS server address automatically", press Okay and try again.

If your computer still does not browse, then you will have no option than to reinstall windows vista operating system on your computer, by so doing the problem will be resolved, i am very sure of that. Do fresh vista installation and problem will be resolved.

There is a conflict on your network settings, that's why its not connecting.

Good luck.

Unable to connect to internet when setting up new laptop

Hi...yes, he will need an ISP if he wants to access the internet from home. But he could also use a public wireless hotspot, or borrow your connection (if you're willing to let him!) - at least until he has set up his own. Mobile broadband is also an option.
Hope this helps

Unable to connect wireless

Since you are unable to go via wireless, follow these steps:

1) Access your router configuration pages by typing in 192.168.1.1 into your web browser.
2) Click the tab that says Wireless.
3) Make sure the wireless broadcast option is enabled. If it isn't, enable it and select save settings.
4) Set up the wireless network through your Vista PC by going to Start > Network.
5) At the top of the window, select add a wireless device. Follow the onscreen instructions to add your Linksys Wireless Access Point.
6) Once added, right click on Wireless-G Router (name varies) and select configure. Follow the onscreen instructions to configure your router. (You can find your router pin by following steps 1-2 and selecting Wi-Fi Protected Set up.)
7) Once completed, attempt to connect to the internet via wireless router.

"Local Access Only"

You need to look on the back of your router and find the small reset button. Push it and everything should reconfigure. If not Go into your device manager and see if you can find something called a NIC card or Network Interface Card, or something called an Ethernet card, if those are not listed, it means your driver has been deleted somehow. You can go to the manufacturers website and download a new driver.

Router Suddenly stopped working...?

try power cycling your network (turn off all of the hardware)
First turn off the computer,
second, the router;
lastly the router (wgr614).

Now, turn the hardware in this order:
  1. Turn on Modem. Wait 2 minutes.
  2. Turn on Router (wgr614). wait 1 minute.
  3. Now turn on the Computer(s).
this should refresh your internet connection. If not, check your routers settings for any wrong info.
to access your router's homepage, type this (http://www.routerlogin.net) into Internet Explorer.
