This is the third time that this has happened the first time it was serviced and the counter reset under warrenty. The second time I had to pay for the service and have the counter reset which cost £50.00 and now it has happened again. I do a lot of printing on it and the quality is very good. I have had the printer for 2 years now.

Hold down the 'Stop' AND the 'B&W' button while powering up. This seems to clear the error message and restore the printer.

    or

First, turn off the printer, and hold down 4 buttons at the same time - 'Power," 'Stop', 'B&W' and 'Colour' buttons

What kind of service does the printer require? what is the error message? waste ink counter full?

you would need to clean the waste ink tank
and then reset the waste ink counter

but I will know more when I know the error and possibly the error code.

To manually reset the Ink Jet Counter that compels you to clean your waste pads. For the tip on how to clean your ink waste pads go here.

Please Note: In some cases, your printer may be leaking ink so much and so often that not only does your ink pads need cleaning, but you may need to replace the ink reservoir on your printer or you will have a leaking mess on your hands. This is a decision and judgment only you can make. If your printer is leaking quite of lot of ink, you may have to take it to an authorized Epson Repair Shop or Person. Find an authorized location by starting at Epson.com

The solution below is valid for most of the following printer models listed below this solution, some listed may not work, some not listed may also work it varies as this method is listed below is illegal for an authorized Epson Tech to release.

Thanks to the many user boards on the Internet for this solution that I know has worked for people I've helped here on FixYa.

Don't be discouraged if it doesn't work the first time. The key is in pressing the buttons exactly at the same time. So if this doesn't work the first time, try again and try again. Most people state they get it eventually.

[thanks to fixyourownprinter.com for the crux of this particular solution]

"Printer Onboard Control Panel Key Sequence"

"Press and hold the paper feed, paper switch and the power switch.

Once the power light and paper light flashes twice and the other lights are flashing release the paper feed and paper switch "and then press the paper feed switch".

The power, paper and ink lights will flash twice. At this point the protection counter has been reset."

Don't give up, if it does not reset the first time. The timing is tricky for some people.

Supported Epson Models that I am aware of, others not listed may work and some listed also may not work, it varies but don't be discouraged to try and try again.

You can also try the software download solution listed in this tip I posted.

    try this also

The 620 is a relatively new printer. Have you been doing a lot of printing with it? It shouldnt have hit this problem so soon.

You can try this: press the STOP and B&W start buttons while hitting the Power-On button.

Here is some info on resetting the counter using SSC service. It may not support your printer yet.

If you get it working, here is a good place to get cheap cartridges which work well: http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp

What do I do to fix when my RX620 Epson printer tells me that parts within have come to the end of service life?

fault is caused by counter, which counts printed pages for reason of possible overflow of waste ink pads. To reset counter a free tool is available under::

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

this tool has also other advantages of e.g. overdubbing cartridge codes ....

a german instruction for resetting the counter is available here:
http://www.druckerchannel.de/artikel.php?ID=1116&seite=13&t=schritt_7_zaehler_zuruecksetzen

make sure to have removed and replaced waste ink pads:
http://www.octoink.co.uk/pages/Epson-RX620.html

start program, choose printerport which is used for Epson rx620, choose Epson model rx620
close active window of program ssc -> program will be available by icon in right lower corner.
switch on printer
right mouse click on program icon in right lower corner will open options:
http://www.druckerchannel.de/artikel.php?ID=1116&seite=13&t=schritt_7_zaehler_zuruecksetzen#
choose according to picture

switch off printer / switch on printer

in case of not working at once retry

I have a epson stylus photo rx620. Have error message"Service required. Parts inside your printer are at the end of their servive life.see your printer documentation for details. I can not find anything in...

Epson programmed their printer to monitor the waste ink counter and your printer has reached the maximum value allowed, you have to reset your printer to clear the waste ink counter.

You may read the information regarding "end of life" and "waste ink counter" here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp

To reset the counter, download re-setter program here, install and follow the instruction in the web site.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Hi, I had the same problem with my RX500.

All you need to do is perform a reset, by pressing and holding the "Stop", "B&W", and "Power" buttons all at the same time and holding them down for at least 10-15secs. It may take a few goes as there's a bit of a nack in getting the buttons pushed at the same time.

Let me know how you get on.

The flashing lights are a "Maintenance request error" or a "Fatal error". Most of the time it is a "Maintenance request error" which means the waste ink pads need to be serviced. You can reset the waste ink counter but the ink pads will need to be serviced at some point.

RX620 Error Message

This message comes up after about 40000 registers on a use counter. I posted what I did on the Epson RX620 forum. Look it up. Basically I bought a repair manual on the net for about $10.00 I used this to take the RX620 apart down to the waste ink catch pads which I removed cleaned dried and replaced. It was a long job the first time and you need the manual in order to figure out how to do it. My pads were only about 1/3 used but I live in a dry climate. So punch those override buttons and keep going. You might put a plastic sheet or pan under the printer to catch the waste ink when it actually does leak out.
