Westinghouse range hood wrf900cs light blew, light globes replaced but lights still not working

I had the same problem. An audible pop and the lights stopped. Fans still works, light bulb filaments appear intact.
My problem was that a short piece of the copper on the printed circuit board, inside the switch housing, had vaporized as if it were a fuse. I soldered a bridge of copper wire across the small 5mm gap and all was working again.
Access the switch compartment by removing the filters, undo a couple of retaining screws to remove switch unit.
Make sure the electricity to the unit is Off/unplugged before proceeding!!!
Switch unit cover has 4 screws holding it on. Once inside the unit, trace the wire (mine was grey colour) from the light switch to the small printed circuit board. The copper printed circuit link to the connector had gone...no sign of burning, just gooone!
Solder a bridge of copper wire across the gap and reassemble switch unit to test.
....send beer donations to me in qld...cheers!!!

No power to the fan or lights. Checked the

You're saying fan (singular) and lights (plural)? Does this fan and these lights work off of one switch? If so, then it's probably a bad switch. You can check this by turning off the circuit breaker. Remove the switch from the wall, and put the two wires going to that switch together. Make sure to use a wire nut, or tape to keep these wires together without touching and grounding anything. Make sure these wires are clear of anyone or anything, and then go back and turn on the circuit breaker. If the lights and fan go back on, then it's a bad switch. This is what it sounds like. So now, you can turn the cir. brkr back off - replace the switch, and then after everything is secure and the switch is in the off position - you can turn the cir. brkr back on again. Then go back into the kitchen and turn the switch on again to reaffirm that everything is back in working order. If for some reason this doesn't work, feel free to contact me again. Good Luck!  Jim

Tradewind range hood- model PSL736: both lights out, fan works

The screws by the lights probably only hold the fixture in place. If you took the screws out you would only get access to the fixture and maybe some wiring. If you have already replaced the lights you can assume its not the fixtures. Not likely both fixtures failed at the same time. The common problems would be the light switch. You would need to gain access to the switch and then check that for power.

You already know house power is good because the fan is working, But since both lights failed and new bulbs don't fix the problem it would most likely be a switch.

According to their website it looks like that whole front panel should come off including the fixtures and the switches.

MAKE SURE THE POWER IS TURNED OFF......REMEMBER THE FAN WON'T WORK IF THE POWER IS OFF.

Once you remove that you can check the wiring harness for the lights. You may also see wire nuts on the harness double check those as well.

Lights won't turn off - everything else works fine

I have a NuTone Allure WS2 range hood. The fan works fine, so does the control board seem ok, but the lights work only intermittently. NuTone tech support said to replace the control board, which I suspect is its kneejerk response. The board costs almost $200--and for two lights???

My problem is similar to the one whose lights work, fan doesn't, but I have a feeling my problem is different.I hope simpler.

Thanks in advance for help (light) on the problem anyone can offer.

Zephyr Milano hood fan and lights stop working. Power is on.

Hi ronio,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: After the power went out your Zephyr hood lights and fan don't work at all. There is a faint glow on the digital display but the fan and lights don't respond to pressing the control buttons.

First check the circuit breaker. If OK then check the transformer in the unit. It's next to the fan motor. If no power on the high side then you have a loose or broken connection. If you have no power on the low side the you have a bad transformer. If OK then you have a bad control board.

New fan not working but lights work

There is less than 120v getting to the fan. Its possible that the lights will turn on etc. Take an extension cord and plug it in another plug and grab both power wires from the fan and stick them in other end of extension and I do service calls for broan & Nutone

Jean-Marc
try it out. Im sure your not getting 120v completelty.
