Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

Kenmore 70 series washer will not spin, clothes are too wet

My Kenmore 70 series washer model # 110.20722990 will not spin, when I lifted the washer there was a broken (belt?) underneath on the floor. Everything I have investigated looks as if my washer is not belt driven, and it may be the coupler, but what was the belt on the floor, about 22 in circle with 2 notches. Please help.

This is in reference to question by grammi posted Jan.3/09 concerning a no spin problem on a Kenmore washing machine. I too have a Kenmore albeit a different model no. ( 110.4564191) likely because purchased in Canada. I've been able to determine that the problem is a broken motor coupler but was just as baffled by what looked like a belt ( approx. 1/4" thick, black foam-like material ) that was looped around the clutch/brake housing area. It just seemed to be sitting there loosely and I couldn't see any purpose for it. What is it and where is it supposed to go? Note: Person responding to this part of grammi's question said that this was a sound deadening device concerning the brake housing and that it was not really required. This piece is not broken but likely just stretched to where it won't stay put. Any further information on this would be much appreciated. Thanks, Don

Not a belt, this is only a sound deadening devise on the brake housing. Not really needed. Replace the coupler

many machine spin a full tub as they are pumping the water out
this helps to even out the washing load and reduce the unbalance situation
when the water is removed , the machine progresses the program to a high speed spin
call a technician as there may be a problem in the program board

Kenmore Series 70 Top Loading Washing Machine Model # 110.20722991 Serial# CL 1134809 Hello, Our washing machine is leaving our clothes soaking wet when finished. What could the problem be?

2 things are possible. Can you tell if the spin cycle is engaging? If the spin cycle is not engaging properly or very fast, then the water will not leave the clothes. less likely is that the machine is not draining the water away properly or fast enough.

Wet clothes

the reason the clothes are wet is the washer is not shifting to high spin, does the washer have a speed switch(normal wash spin, high wash spin)if its not the speed switch than the clutch is bad,how old is the washer?mike

Kenmore series 90 washer spins but the clothes are still very wet

you probably need a new clutch (Whirlpool Washer Clutch Kit 285785 fits kenmore too) , or your gear case is shot.

If it goes through the complete cycle o.k. except for the slow spin then the motor itself needs to be checked.
