SOURCE: hello, when i start my

The hard disk could be faulty or the Windows operating system is corrupted and in this case Windows need to be reinstalled on the hard disk.
When the hard disk is in the computer and when you go into the BIOS and if the BIOS cannot detect the hard disk then most likely the hard disk is faulty.

HOW to tget to bios acer aspire AST180-ED400A

Immediately after pressing the power up button, start repeatedly pressing F2 while the Acer logo is displaying. The Bios setup screen should appear. If you press F2 too soon, the keyboard may not have initialized yet. If you press it too late, Windows will proceed to launch. Press it once, wait a second, press, it again, wait another second, and repeat this while the Acer logo is displaying until you see the bios setup screen.

This is standard approach with most Acers. That said, some laptops may defer to either Ff being the key to press or CTRL+ALT+EXC. Such would be entered as the above mentioned F2. Your Aspire appears to be a desktop and I suspect F2 will suffice.

Emachines e525 bios password

After hours of searching I finally found a fix:
1. Remove the battery
2. Remove the HDD
3. Removed the RAM to make the solder points, marker 'J1' on the motherboard visible
emachines-e525-bios-password-bueb2fgw15ei4wj3vksvhmc2-2-1.png 4. I then used a paper clip and sticky tape to join these solder points
5. With the solder points joined, insert one stick of RAM and turn the machine on
6. Wait until the laptop is in a post BIOS state (past the screen where you can press F2 for setup and where the logo shows) and remove the paper clip. This has to be removed while the laptop is still on.
7. Turn off computer, press F2 to enter BIOS and you should find there is no password.
Repeat the above steps if you find this doesn't work.

Emachine when i turn it on says press f2 to start setup but ive tried it but it wont do anything why?

Some keyboards have an f-lock key that you enable quickly as the computer starts to boot. Only then will the F2 button work. If you are too slow to hit the f-lock key the computer will boot past the time window that allows you to enter the setup.

I need to press a key on my keyboard to start factory recovery

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

In order to revert the machine back to its factory setting, you need to have the recovery disk (if you don't have it, call the warranty support line of e-machines so they can provide it to you).

To restore Windows from your recovery discs, you will need to
insert the first backup disc and enable the F12 Boot Menu via the BIOS Setup
Utility.
1 Turn on your computer and insert the first system recovery disc into the
optical disc drive. Restart your computer.
2 During startup when the eMachines logo shows, press the F2 key to enter
BIOS Setup, where you can set system parameters.
3 Use the left and right arrow keys to select the Main submenu.
4 Use the up and down arrow keys to select F12 Boot Menu.
5 Use the F5 or F6 key to change F12 Boot Menu to Enabled.
6 Press the ESC key to enter the Exit submenu, press the ENTER key to Exit
Saving Changes. Press the ENTER key again to select Yes. The system will
reboot.
7 After rebooting, when the eMachines logo shows, press the F12 key to
open the Boot Menu. Here you can select which device to boot from.
8 Use the arrow keys to select the IDE1*, then press the ENTER key. Windows
will be installed from the recovery disc.
9 Insert the second recovery disc when prompted, then follow the onscreen
prompts to complete the restore.
10 Remove the recovery disc from the optical drive once the restore is
complete. Do this before rebooting your computer.

Hope this helps!

Emachine boots into logo screen.pressing F2 no response.

Did it work before?
Have you installed any new hardware or software?
Do you have any USB devices connected?
If so, remove and try again.
Try going into the BIOS to make sure the hard drive is recognised.

I hope this helped. Good Luck and have a nice day.

Unable to get to CMOS using any of the 3 methods

This machine is one of the first "legacy free" models which means there are no BIOS options to change. All settings and resources must be assigned by the OS.
For details, please check the "legacy free" FAQ on MS Knowledge base.
If you are trying to access the BIOS to change boot order so that you can boot from a CD, hold down the 'c' key during POST/boot. This will case your laptop to boot from CD-ROM.
