SOURCE: I have an eden pure xl model 1000xl. it is not

If your fan doesn't come on in this heater , its because the heaters are not heating up enough to cause the fan switch to activate( does it by temperature) so if it s powered on and not heating up enough to cause the fan to kick in , then one or more heaters are open /broken. I have repaired a few of these units and I suspect the reason the glass on the quartz elements breaks loose from the ceramic end and lets moisture in, thus rusting the element connection. It rusts until it's weak enough to break apart from the ends of the sealed quartz heating element and then it's dead/broken /open<<(ELECTRICAL- TERM) I really beleive this breakage occurs from the heater being banged, bumped, slammed or jarred as it's rolled across the floor by the customer to a location they desire to heat and possibly jarring the entire unit frame as the coaster wheels hit the grout lines in the tile flooring! Bang -bang, bang , bang, broken heater breaking heaters = "no-workie no more!
There are seven heaters in these units P/N MK2633, easy enough to replace if you can get your hands on some and the replacement costs isn't astronomical . . !!
I believe at this point the heaters are a proprietary part of Eden Pure/ Bio-tech. I'm finding them difficult to get on the open appliance parts market for the two units I am currently repairing, that by the way have the same problem as you have. ( No heat, no fan, no operation at all ( which all makes sense if you look at he wiring diagram on top the metal case when you get the plastic covers off. l suspect this is a proprietary marketed item, like Antarees vending machines are, where ONLY they can service what they sell, making "ALL THE MONEY" because only "THEY" have the repair parts which are probably from the same batch of parts they use to build their product. I suspect this for two reasons A) I'm pretty good at finding available repair parts , being in the business and the fact that EdenPure/Biotech has a sticker on the back that reads: "For ordering and Service call 1-800-xxx-xxxx because I assume at this point of my research that only THEY can repair their product, which I feel is a bit unfair to their purchsing customers and "would-be" repairmen that those customers call on in their township to attempt to attempt repairing the unit. Product Market monopoly, it sure isn't like the good O'l days when you could get parts and repair things that failed over time or other reasons. But hey I'm a dinosaur, what can I say! ! If I find the parts for my repair or EdenPure is kind and makes me eat my words about their proprietary marketed item, I'll revisit Fix-Ya with an update. . . .!

P.S. About taking it apart: Three BLACK screws on the back of each side panel located in the back of the unit will let you remove the side covers, then remove three screws on the backside of the front plastic cover as well as the top cover, with all four covers removed you can now remove the sides, remove 10 screws in each side cover including 3 screws from the bottom ( turn unit on it's side to get to them). When the metal side pieces are removed this will expose the heaters and wiring/ hi-limit and fan switches (thermally -controlled swicthes) The heaters are joined together on the left side by a crimp cap which you can undo and redo by turning a set of vise-grips 90 degrees to the original crimp and this will open the crimp and free the heater leads for replacement.
Best of luck to you, let the Fix-Ya world know how you faired , good or bad I'd like to hear if my advise did you or others any good! C.W. Enterprises

The bulbs/ elements for this xl 1000 are very easy to install. Not always too easy to find in stock though. PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION to the way the wires are ATTACHED! They MUST be reconnected in the EXACT way they were removed. BUT, just in case you forgot to look, I have pictures of the terminal blocks. Hope this is a help as there are no other diagrams or pictures that I have found on the net! Good Luck!

SOURCE: need repair manual for eden pure heaters

Instructions

1

Check that the EdenPure portable heater is plugged into a reliable, functioning power outlet if the heater turns off, has poor heat output or doesn't turn on. Plug in another appliance, such as a laptop or desk lamp, to ensure the power outlet is functioning. Avoid using an extension cable, as this may reduce the power the heater receives.
2

Reset the heater's thermostat if the room isn't warming sufficiently. Turn the thermostat to its hottest setting. Wait 4 minutes for the internal fans to turn on and Mstart circulating the heat. When your room has reached a desirable temperature, turn the thermostat knob to a lower heat as marked on its dial. Ensure the thermostat clicks at your desirable temperature. The EdenPure heater then cycles on and off to keep the temperature constant.

3

Clean the EdenPure's filter tray if you notice the heater's performance decreasing. A clogged filter reduces the heater's output of hot air. Turn off the heater and find the filter tabs located on the EdenPure's back grill. Slide the tabs upward to remove the air filter. Rinse under hot water until the water runs clear. Set the filter aside and allow it to air dry thoroughly. Depending on your local climate, this may take several hours. Slide the filter back into the EdenPure heater and resume use.
4

Move the EdenPure heater to increase its heating capacity if you notice its fans running constantly. Due to its small size, the heater works best in small, enclosed spaces that are free from drafts. Move the heater away from windows, exterior walls and doors.

My Eden pure model Gen 3 doesn't turn on ? The red light on front is lite and filter is clean Why not

Edenpure has a troubleshooting guide at this website: MY HEATER WILL NOT TURN ON.
  • Make sure the power source is good. Plug in a lamp to see if it works correctly.
  • Make sure the front power switch/button is set to the "ON" position.
  • Unplug the power for 30 minutes. Plug the power back in and try operating the heater again. This will reset the internal sensors.
  • Some heater models are designed to be operated in temperatures less than 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The heater will not operate when the temperature is too high. Test the heater in a room that is below 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Bring the heater inside to warm up for at least one hour before operating if it has been stored in a freezing or near freezing environment.
  • Make sure the filter is clean.
  • Remember, it will take a few minutes for the heater to warm up. The fan will start to blow after the heater has warmed up.

How do I fix Eden Pure Heater? It goes on and off intermittently, mostly off.

You need to clean the filters in the back of the unit. It is not receiving enough air flow. They just snap out and wash the little foam filter and replace it.

Did you check the fuse ? If that is ok then normally what goes first is a standby transformer on the front board itself. There is thermal fuse located inside the transformer that goes open circuit. A fairly easy and quick fix.

Eden pure starts blowing hot air and then turns cold

I recently fixed this issue for a family member on this exact model, the same issue, it would heat fine for 15 minutes and then cold blowing air would follow afterwards non stop, and when we powered down the unit and restarted it, it did the same exact thing. ( What worked for me ) was ordering a new " Thermostat " which is a white rectangle looking plastic thing with 2 blue wires coming out of it, you can find You-Tube video's showing you how to remove the Eden-pure gen3 cover housing easily, my total cost of this do it yourself repair was just under $20 as of 10/10/14 your cost could vary depending on different factors.
1st...unplug the unit....duh ! lol
Once the housing is removed, look at the top of the unit and locate the 2 blue wires coming out near the front, remove the 2 top screws holding in the thermostat, gently pull out the old thermostat but don't disconnect any blue wires yet, put the new thermostat in facing the exact same way as the old one, re-tighten the 2 screws, next follow one blue wire ( One is longer than the other ) to its location on the block, determine if its the shorter or longer wire, disconnect just 1 wire with a Phillips screw driver, and replace it with the like sized blue wire from the new thermostat, tighten but not over tight ! next do the same for the next blue wire on block.
After thermostat is secure and wiring is secure, put the cover and panels back together......and plug it in and test it again....... Hope this works for you as it did for me.
Good Luck !

Charging

Some Pure-Fi's has a problem charging 2nd Gen Touch iPod, even when proper supplied adapter is used. You can try pressing the iPod further into the connector and see if it stays charging. If not, you can tilt the Touch slightly forward to make proper charging contact with Pure-Fi's iPod connector.

If you only charge your 2nd Gen Touch in your Pure-Fi, or other devices less thick than the Touch, like iPod Nanos, then you can stick a spacer on the Pure-Fi behind the Touch to always properly tilt it slightly forward. Only space it slightly forward just enough to cause it to charge so as not to stress the connector.

Stick-on chair/furniture protectors work good for this. If they are too thin, stick one on top the other till you get the thickness you need. Do not use any thicker a spacer than needed so as not to stress the connector any more than needed to make charging contact Use thinner stick-ons, like double sided foam tape, to get the final spacing you need.

The added advantage to a proper spacing between an iPod and Pure-Fi, is it relieves connector stress when plugging in and using an iPod while plugged in, since the taller Touch iPod cannot tilt backward. If you place your spacer at the very top of the Pure-if back panel, then iPods thicker, but shorter, than the height of your space can also be used.

Hope this helps everyone with this irritating Pure-Fi design problem.

To view the charging/not charging status on the 2nd Gen's screen, turn off the 2nd Gen and the Charging Icon will show when contact is being made.
