SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V995 receiver turns on & then powers off 2 seconds late

I suggest you run self diag.  press [FM/AM] key + [Input mode] key and press the [power/standby] switch.

ps prt = power supply problem
dc prt = shorted output or leakly cap in channel
tmp prt means to hot on heatsink

you'll likely have to measure the resistances of the output FETs to find a short,

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver powers off, in case it becomes louder

Hey, yeah that can be frustrating.

When you turn it up do you hear the relay or a clicking sound, then you turn it on and it comes back below the +2db?

Try unplugging All the speaker wires from the unit. Turn on the unit and listen for the click.
after the click, turn it up past the 2+ db mark and see if you hear it click or shut down. If it did not click off, then suspect a shorted crossover on one of your speakers.
2nd test is to plug in One speaker, and test it at high volume, it will not harm it. If it shuts off disconnect that speaker and try another. Only one at a time.
If it works at high volume, you need to isolate one of your speakers and i bet it has a shorted crossover that has been cooked. P.S. If one is bad, suspect they will fail at a later date.
If they all fail, use a friends speaker and try it before sending it to a repair shop.

P.S. i found one on ebay i think you can get for under $100 bucks in the box.

Had same problem. Display would read, "Check Speaker Wires". Rear speakers were shorted by a carpet nail. Works fine now.

Make sure you have an analog RCA audio cable from the source to the receiver. Digital coaxial or optical will not work for zone 2 or zone 3. By adding an analog cable it will not affect your main zone, it will always go to digital first. Hope this helps

Does it work without PS3 attached?
When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.

Hello: I would like to know if you could tell me if there is a way to get this receiver to work again. As it does not turn on when powering it up.

It sounds like the power supply has gone out on it, I am having no luck in finding a replacement part for you though, sorry.

While watching tv we heard a pop and the receiver stopped working. Power button does nothing. We've opened it up but can't see anything that looks burnt or fried...

It could be a relay that burnt out, they usually dont show any signs of damage, or the motherboard could be fried too with no signs of damage eather! Hope this helps!

Yamaha rx v473 cuts off

disconnect all speakers, turn it on. If it stays on, connect one pair of speakers at a time and when it shuts off, that speaker is the problem. There may be a short in the wire or the speaker may be bad. If you get that far, try connecting the bad speaker with another speakers wires.

Yamaha RXS100 Workshop Manual Free Download

Hi, Anonymous the vast majority of service, parts, and owners manuals on the internet are "FREE" to download and all service manuals contain wiring diagrams in the back pages. The rest usually charge a modest fee around $10 sometimes more and there is a handful of obscure, rare, obsolete, and very old models that are no longer or never were available, then there is eBay where you may be able to find what you need at a very high price because of its age and rarity. Most of the "FREE" manuals will cover your exact make, model, and year otherwise one will be provided that comes as close as possible to your bike and will have most of the same info that an exact manual would have. To download your manual please click on the blue links below. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

Won't stay powered on

There is a relay right next to the fuses on the inside dg1u it says on the top. I cleaned it and pressed down firmly on it and it seem to have fixed it. It fired up for the first time.. The relay might need to be replaced if this doesnt work for ya.
I found a solution at: http://www.diyforums.net/forums/domestic-electronics/11098-yamaha-rxv795-receiver-shuts-itself-down-after-some-time.html

Modern home-theater components monitor themselves electronically for potentially dangerous malfunctions such as damaged internal parts. When a unit's microprocessor senses a problem, it will typically shut down so that no further damage -- or potentially dangerous disasters like fire! -- occurs. Your receiver is identifying something upon turn-on and shutting down as a result. My guess is that you're going to need service for your Yamaha. There's likely no fix that you're going to find. You need a professional service technician.
