It is model dw2410, installed in a yacht. Is there a reset button anywhere? Must unit we taken out of its wooden housing in the yatcht's galley?

  • andre551 Jan 07, 2009

We found no current at the breaker. After consulting the boat's electrical schematics, it was discovered that the dishwaswher was connected, via the breaker panel, to a 24V - 240V inverter located in the boat's stern crew quarter. The inverter reset had tripped. Resetting it solved the problem.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, if a reset is installed, it would normally be at the rear, near where the AC power cord comes out of the unit. In some European products, there is a fuse in the AC plug itself as Richie_asg1 has posted.

Since the circuit breaker has been checked, the unit should show some indications that it is receiving power. If none, the START button does nothing and no external RESET switch, then the alternative left is to pullout the unit from its wooden housing. Most units would have a tech sheet at the bottom/kick panel or among the covers/panels. There would also be a wiring diagram that would guide you in tracing voltages at the different points. Foremost to check would be the voltage supplied the controller board.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

the problem might be the start switch itself. if the switch is going
bad it could have either a carbon buildup on the contacs preventing it
from starting (unlikely) or the contacs are wearing out and it is more
hit or miss if it will start. as time goes on the problem will get wose

Specific failure symptoms include: 1) When the dishwasher is turned ON, nothing happens. 2) When the dishwasher is turned ON a “buzzing” sound is heard.
you have 2 choice my dear...

Check Dishwasher Terminal Box
check should be made with the volt/ohmmeter to check if voltage is available to thedishwasher wiring. A voltage check is made by setting the volt/ohmmeter on the 150 A/C scale and placing one probe of the volt/ohmmeter on one wire that supplies voltageto the dishwasher. Place the other probe on the remaining wire. The meter should read 110-125 voltsThis would indicate that electrical power was available from the circuit breaker panel to the dishwasher terminal box.

When your diswasher doesn't work at all, check these:

Power from the house Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.

Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dishwasher, burns and breaks the connection. If that's the problem, the wires must be repaired/replaced as necessary. If that's not the problem, check the wiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lower part of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-grade wire and connectors.

Timer or selector switch Although it's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. If so, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of these can be repaired.

I suspect it is the main door interlock switch. Try opening and closing the door a few times - maybe pushing more than normal to close it.

If you don't get any lights - try the fuse in the plug.

Ok, Turn breaker off at breaker panel. Just off then on. The rinse only light should be on.....not flashing. Now press the start button first and hold; then press the cancel button. That should cancel all lights. Then press wash button then start. If the light is still flashing after you turn off breaker....you might have a bigger problem. May need new control panel.

Hello,
This is a very common issue on these units. The touch pad has failed. You can try to flip the breaker off for several minutes and see if that clears the code. More than likely the touch pad will need to be replaced.

The dishwasher won't start

nine, when you said the buttons work, do you mean they can be depressed and you feel the clicking? Well if the unit lights up with the indicator light showing power is on then check the float assy it maybe stuck in the up postion and if no power check house breaker/fuse and if ok then the thermal fuse is open somewhere depending on your series of dish washer and generally req some electrical knowledge to follow the electrical ladder diagram ..... this is the only thing I would look for before calling the repairman...

Dishwasher not starting cycle

a dishwasher has a timer similar to a dryer you need a schematic so you can check the voltages at the heat cycle some times the timer goes out, and rarely the heating element or pump goes out. and make sure when you press start power travels through the button.
