After a complete re-install of XP, my HP r4000 laptop seems to be missing wireless functions. Cannot find Available Networks window. WLAN is displayed in tray but blue light (on switch) is not lit.

    Was working fine before re-install.

Will post any solution I find. H

Check your security settings would be a good start. Have you checked to see if XP uses WEP to authenticate? (it should do this automatically but sometimes it doesn't)

XP does not recognize the Intel wireless network adapter

Dell has a known problem with driver conflic the best remedy is to right click on my computer click on property open hardware uninstall the driver there and restart the conputer but first make sure you download the driver from intel and burn them on a cd then when you reinstall you won't have to try to figure out if everything is downloading also in security make sure that you allow this site so that all the drivers download.
but most of the time if these driver are on a card that is micrsoft certified it will be in the driver file and will reload automaticly when you restart the computer after uninstalling and it should elimenate the driver conflic.
