SOURCE: LCD screen goes blank and computer stops functioning

This must be a loose connection on the lcd behind the lid or in the hinge, I would not atempt a repair, laptops are a nightmare, take to a specialist repairer.

SOURCE: DV100 Display

Hi questpilot,
what you're saying it can be 3 possible case
1.its the backlight that have problem and I give it 90% to your problem. The behavior of spoil back light sometime you can use and sometime you can't if you tab the switch that mean you power off the light and after that you power on it again so this will work for 1-2 second
2.Bad inverter or bad chip on that inverter this always happen but like this case sometime after switch, you can use for nearly a week or two. so I give it only 40% for your case.
3.Its the lid actuator but you already push it up and down already and still the same.and also when you push it down and up the light turn on...so I think this is working fine.

SOURCE: black screen with horizontal green lines

Hello yoyoxide.

from my experience can be something related with the video card. I recommend you the followig (Hardware diagnostics):

-Look for one of the discs that came with your computer, it should say (Drivers & utilities).
-Boot from the CD. If you don't know how to do it do the following:
1.Insert the Drivers&Utilities Disk.
2.Restart teh computer.
3. When you get the Dell logo, press F12
4.Select Boot from CD/CDRW-DVD (something like that).
-You will get a prompt to run the diagnosics.
-Just follow the wizard
-I recommend you to run diagnostics for everything.
-You will see if you have any problems with your hardware.

It seems that you have a pretty new laptop, so probably it's under warranty.

SOURCE: Screen Flicker and goes black

Hello,

I had this issue with my r700 last week. It can be resolved without any hardware changes/fixes (if you have the same issue which it does sound like).

Samsung are aware of this issue and have released a firmware upgrade for the system BIOS in order to implement a resolution to this monitor flicker problem.

Resources
Visit the following webpage -
http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/download/supportDown.do?group=&type=notebookcomputers&subtype=rseries&model_nm=NP-R700&disp_nm=NP-R700&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=FM&vType=&prd_ia_cd=05010400&model_cd=&menu=download

Instructions
1.download the file listed
2.double click on the file once downloaded to install the update

Additional
Something you and other r700 users may find useful is that the r700 is known as the np-r700 on the Samsung website-there are lots of useful downloads and guides available there.

Looks to be a bad communication between the display and the computer. Make sure the display is in the active video port - Sometimes there's more then one video connection. Check with another display on that same computer. Open the computer and check to make sure the video card hasn't unseated itself.
If you try a second display and it does the same as the first display. try another video card. Was This Helpful? YES or no.

I have a black screen on my Lenovo T400 laptop. It seems to be working in the background. Anyone any ideas?

If you can see the OS in a bright light on the moniter,"It seems to be working in the background", I would thing it's the CCL or back lighting. Sometimes the small switch that shuts-down the CCL when you close the lid of the laptop gets stuck with age. I have repaired some monitor problems, the switch is located near/under the hinges. Locate the tiny switch and make sure it is moving freely, as in, up to turn-on CCL, and down to turn-off CCL. The other issue I fixed was the "ribbon-cable on the rear of the flat monitor. It get jared loose sometimes with a bump.

LC26AD5E screen goes black after few moments and sometimes almost immediately. Does not switch off onto stanby using remove - have to use top button.

I'd suspect EITHER the Powerboard capacitors failing, opening the case (after switching it off and leaving it for 24 hours to drain charge) and looking at the capacitors to see if any are blown or bulging will confirm this, as will blackening on the board.

Or, the video board is failing. Power getting to board but not making the circuit to light the display, or an associated fault.

My flatron L1710S flat screen will not come out of power saving mode. When I turn on the monitor the power button/light is green for a few seconds, the screen indicated "power saving mode", then...

I switch on my PC, ensuring that all cables, leads and power supplies are connected properly. The tower powers up no problems at all. I switch the screen on, the green led lights up, the screen is completely black. A blue box appears centrally on the screen with the text 'power saving mode'. The green led light turns amber and then the screen just goes black.

Please don't suggest going to control panel, as I can't get that far.

PLEASE PLEASE CAN ANYONE SUGGEST ANYTHING give me
