All Cuisnarts have an interlock rod built in to the bowl assembly.
Make sure the bowl is positioned on the motor base correctly, and the actuator in the lid that pushes the interlock rod down is not bromen or damaged. If it is intact and working correctly, then check the switch it pushes on, or the main power switch.
You can get the Motor Shaft Covers for most if not all Cuisinart models from their customer service. They are not shown on the web under parts, but if you call them, they can help you get the right part. Just have your model # ready. For many, the part is $3 plus shipping and handling.
check to make sure micro switch is engaged, will not turn on because of safety switch . if overloaded the thermal fuse has blown inside the machine. check to see if you have voltage , you may need a voltage test meter too and tools
Make sure it is unplugged !!! If you have a blade tool, Rotate the motor several times in direction of normal rotation. Then all clear, plug it in and see how that does. Repeat if necessary. Sometimes the brushes in the motor are seated and turning the motor helps the realignment. mAKE SURE TO UNPLUG IT!!!! Ned
You can download the user manual for the DFP-11 from http://www.cuisinart.com/parts/food_processors/dfp-11.html
Click on the "download user manual" hypertext link on the right under the processor picture. You need to have Adobe Reader loaded to be able to read the manual.

The Motor Shaft Cover parts are not shown on the Cuisinart website under parts, but they are available if you call Customer Service. These parts are quite inexpensive (often $3 + s&h). Have your model number ready, and they can get the right one out to you.
Is the cover assembly engaged and locked into place? If you can't lock the cover into place, it's possible that part of the plastic on the cover assembly is broken and not engaging the white rod inside the bowl. Determine which part is at fault (either the bowl or the cover assembly) and replace it.
Removing a Cuisinart Food Processor Work Bowl You have to remove the pusher first by twisting it off. Then press the sides of the pusher sleeve inward and slide the sleeve up and out of place. Then twist off the lid - all twisting on these food processors works either clockwise or counterlcokwise - not both. Then twist the work bowl to the left (clockwise). Voila! -Tha Mp3 Doctor
