With the blue/green/red cords (Component) you need to get a very good bright light on the connectors so you get the plugged into the correct COMPONENT connectors on the TV. Note, there are white and red AUDIO plugs right near the COMPONENT input so you need to be VERY careful. If you get it wrong, the colors on screen are often off and even black&white.
How is your cable box connected to the TV? Screw on "COAXIAL", Yellow, Red, White "RCA", single flat connector "HDMI" or 5 colored plugs 2 X Red, 1 X White, 1 X Blue, 1 X Green "COMPONENT"
I had exact same problem and it took forever to fix but I did fix it. If I plugged the camera into the tv it worked but when I tried going through the dvr no picture at all. The problem was the power supply cord to the cameras. It was bad, I happen to have another one and that was it. All cameras working!
You can connect this camera to a suitable TV with either the S-Video lead or the RCA lead, but only if the TV is equipped with the appropriate inputs. The S-Video lead looks like a tiny DIN plug, and the RCA jacks are three separate plugs coloured red, white and yellow (yellow is composite video, red and white are left and right stereo sound). If you use S-Video you will also need to make a separate connection for sound (using the red and white RCA connectors). Sometimes the TV sound input is a mini stereo jack, and you will need a Y connector to adapt the two RCA connectors to the mini jack, or maybe the camera's sound output is also by mini jack, in which case you may need the reverse Y connector. Most TVs have some way of accepting a video signal, but you may already be using it for a DVD player or the like.
If your TV lacks these connections, you may be able to use an adapter. In the UK, most recent TVs have a SCART (Peritel) socket, which takes a big plug with 21 connections on it. You can get an adapter to fit that socket that will allow you to plug in the RCA connectors and maybe the S-video too. I don't know what country you are in, or what adapters are available in your country if it isn't the UK.
Once you have made the connections, you must select the appropriate input on your TV. The other possible hiccup is setting the camera to the right video standard, NTSC or PAL., to match that used by your TV.
The USB cord will not connect your camera to the TV.
This is probably a problem with your LCD monitor or the connections to it. Does the blue line show in all situations such as record, playback, and menu mode?
Test your monitor by plugging into your camera the TV cord that came with your camera. Connect to a TV and use it as a monitor when your camera is on. be sure to switch to the TV to channel three or video to get a picture. Check the different screen modes: record, play, and menu. If the blue line does not appear on the TV then there is damage to your monitor or its connections. My guess is you won't see the blue line on your TV since you get good prints. If you are on warranty, get it fixed. Otherwise, you have a choice between paying for a repair or living with it. Good luck.
Try hooking up your sony handycam to a different monitor or tv to make sure it is putting out a good video signal using an S-Video cable. Then once you know your cords are good and you have a good video signal, hook it back up to the RCA LCD unit. If it is still not working make sure that the RCA LCD is set to receive the Hi8 signal via the S-Video cable. There may be a switch or menu setting on your RCA LCD to accept the Hi8 signal or also refered to as S- Video.
Round peg into the round hole. Red peg on the red slot. etc. If the wire from the nintendo doesn't fit the slot on the tv then you're in the wrong slot. if the wire from the nintendo fits the slot on the tv (and is the same color if you are using red/white/yellow rca cables) then you're good. here's a hint on connection types (you will not mix):
1. RCA (red/white/yellow round connectors)
Red=right audio sound
White=left audio sound
connect to the slots that look like they want some.
2. Coaxial (stiff cable with a pinner poking out of the end -- same cable that connects you to cable tv) just hook it up by itself; it carries audio and video.
3. Component (red/green/blue)(red/white) two 'bundles'
red=red component of video
green=green component of video
blue=blue component of video
4. VGA + (red/white)
VGA=video (computer monitor cable)
5. HDMI (flat hdmi cable. you spent $30 on this 3 foot ****)
HDMI=audio and video

I have a Panasonic IQ PV-IQ403 old palmcorder. I know how to connect it to a TV screen. I am not sure how a camcorder would connect to a computer. Maybe this information can be of help to you. I have separate flap door covering my RCA connections on my camera, located near the battery compartment. I just plug one end of the RCA cord into those connectors and the other end into the RCA connectors on my TV. I have to change the power switch on my camera over to the VCR position (take it off of the camera position). The TV has to be on channel 3 (or 4). I push play on my camera, and I can see what I have recorded on my TV screen.
This might work on your computer monitor. I am not an expert, but this information may be helpful.
Don't pass the video sample through the Onkio.. Use a second single RCA patch cord to go from vcr to TV... Use the same yellow out on the vcr that you're using now and send it directly to the yellow video input you're using on the TV..
