I can't personalize my voice mail on the answering machine.

The Uniden XDECT 8315 does not have an answering machine. It will check your voice mail. Setting that greeting depends on your telephone service provider. Check your provider's voice mail FAQ.

To have your XDECT 8315 get your voive mail messages, press Message and then select Voice Mail. Then follow the prompts to enter your voice mail access number. Alternatively, you can press Menu > Global Menu Settings > Edit Voice Mail. See pages 17 and 32 of the manual. (See the link below.)

If you do not have voice mail from your telephone company, you can add a stand-alone answering machine. Just make sure to connect the answering machine to the telephone jack. Then connect the answering machine RJ-11 out to the telephone's RJ-11 jack on the base.

The VTech 6041 isn't an answering machine. In order to set up voicemail, you first need a device capable of handling voicemail, such as an answering machine.

There are messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This records messages when people call while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

My first impression is that I am not surprised I think there is a connection between a voice mail and answering machine. I think you must reconnect.

The IA5823 is not an answering machine. It will work with most telephone service providers' voice mail systems. You'll need to refer to the instructions from your service provider.

If you still have problems, please repost your question specifying your telephone service provider and if possible the name of the voice mail system.

A "mailbox not set up" message is coming from your telephone line voice mail system, and not from your telephone answeringmachine. What this means is that the voice mail on the phone line is picking up before the answering machine has a chance, and since the mailbox hasn't been set up it can't take any messages. So there are two things you'll need to do.

First, you'll need to set up your voice mail. You may need to contact your telephone service provider for setup instructions since not all systems are the same, but here's how it usually works. From your home phone, call your own number so you reach your voice mail. You should get the message that your mailbox hasn't been set up, and will be prompted for an access code to get to the setup menu. The access code is usually the last four digits of your phone number, and you'll be prompted to change it to something else as part of the setup. Through the setup main menu you can record your greeting and set up other options like the ring count before the voice mail answers. Set it for a number larger than the setting on your telephone answering machine. (I have my answering machine set to 4 rings, and voicemail set to 6.)

Step two is to verify the ring setting on your answering machine. Four rings is a common default setting, but it's adjustable on the phone. Most newer phones have menus that you access from the handset to set change settings, while older models have a switch on the base unit.

Once the mailbox is set up and you have your answering machine set to pick up first, everything will work as you want.

Press and hold the "1" key to call into your AT&T voice mail.

Enter the default passcode (your seven-digit telephone number--not including the area code) using your keypad.

Press "4" to access the "Personal Options" menu. Press "2" to enter the "Administrative" menu, and then press "1" to change your passcode. Enter the default passcode, and then enter your desired passcode. Listen to the playback for verification.

Wait until you are returned to the main menu. Press "4" for "Personal Options," and then press "3" to change your greeting.

Press "1" to change your "No Answer/Busy" greeting, or press "2" to change your "Extended Absence" greeting. Follow the voice prompts to record your personal greeting (this replaces the standard "answering machine" recording).

If you want to retrieve you voice mail, You can ask your service provider, they will guide you with the procedure to get your voice mail. Every service provider needs user to call a particular to get the voice mail.

The short answer is no. The JX200 will work with an answering machine because it "listens in" when the answering machine picks up a call. It can't "listen in" to voice mail, because the voice mail is handled by your phone service.
