The electric start on my GP7000E clicks, but does not crank the engine. I've had the battery charger plugged in for several hours. Is it the battery or the starter?

SOURCE: Quietsource 25kw Staring problem In auto mode or manual

Hi,
Sounds like the you have no spark since when you force the engine to crank it never fires. The low battery light come on because the 2 sec of cranking lets the voltage get lower than the alarm threshold.
I'd connect a spark tester to either of the plugs and try a manual start, if you see sparks replace the plugs, if you get no sparks then you've got to troubleshoot the ignition modules and the kill wire that comes from them.

Regards,
Carl

Got my 2009 Yamaha FX sho waverunner under water, drained the water from the hull and tried to start it. Turned over 5 or 6 times and stopped. Pulled the air filter out and of course had water in it....

remove all sparkplugs and hold full throttle and crank over several times to get water out of cylinders ! have a jump pack ready as battery will die ! use carb cleaner on the plugs each time you try to run after this , hope this has only just happened as internal damage might already started ! if all ok check the engine oil also as water normally gets in after this problem ! if oil is milky then change oil several times , run for 15min on hose each change until oil normal colour ! then you must take for a run for an hour to help dry it out !

My 2004 Honda Pilot ran fine then a hour later won't start. At first thought battery so we charged up usig one of those chargers you plug in. Lights flicker, and clicking sounds but won't turn

Check batry terminals are secure & free from corosion, check security of earth strap to engine & main power wire on starter, if ok have the batry load tested to ensure it can perform under load as the starter needs a lot of current. Have you tried a jump start?

Hi i have a 2001 chevrolet 1500 4.3 with code po300 multy miss fire what do i need to look for did tune up wires coil cap button plugs fuel filter trans filter seafoam in the vac sys wile driving i...

I'll assume you can feel the engine misfire by the engine idling rough or "looping". I've had a lot of experience with chevy's "phantom" problems with engine idle, stalling and error codes. This would be the easiest approach to start with. Disconnect the battery for at least 30 minutes to an hour. Reconnect the battery and start the engine. It should idle rough, disconnecting the battery will literally erase the learned idle settings. It will take between 15-20 minutes running in "park" to relearn idle settings, should default to factory settings. You'll need a scanner to erase all the stored error codes to see if the problem reccurs. Another approach would be to check the altenator output and battery voltage, the computer needs a minimum amount of dc voltage to operate correctly. I've been through the filter changes, injector power flushing, fuel pumps, injector rail pressure testing, coil packs, MAF sensor cleaning etc. Its been my experience with 98' and newer chevy trucks, its usually something simple. The ABS light is the one that throws me off, that tells me its electrical. I personnaly would start at the battery-altenator verify voltage. Check PCV valve these were a problem chevy had a technical service bulletin on these. An old school trick, start the engine and let it idle, take a can of carb cleaner and spray around the intake manifold gaskets. if theres a vacum leak the engine will gulp the carb cleaner and stutter briefly. I've had the misfire code on my 2001 4.8L ext. cab in the past. It was always electrical, throttle body, EGR valve related. some cases its the engine crank angle sensor. Consider checking the fuel pressure regulator, on the V-8s its mounted on the fuel rail.

I got rid of my 01' Silverado and traded it in on a 07' 4.8L ext. cab, before i did that I looked under the hood. They've eliminated a lot of the fuel and emission control devices that had all of us scratching our heads and paying through the nose to diagnose and correct. I hope this helps provide some direction, we've all shared your pain at some time.

My battery for canon camera 550d flashes orange when charging, its been 4 hours now and it hasnt turned green yet.. I am charging it first time.. is this normal

Okay what happens sometimes is the charger gets into a feed back loop. What to do is remove the battery unplug the charger wait a few seconds (Maybe 20/30) plug the charger back into the outlet and then put the battery back in the charger. It should start to charge again and a few minutes later go to the blinking for full charge green.

It'll happen the other way as well meaning if the battery gets a memory (they say they don't but they do) you need to unplug the battery let is sit till it's cool and put it back on charge again. I've had this problem many times and have put it on charge and back off several times with in 15 minutes before it started to charge as it should.

Also these batteries do have a life span and if it's a three year old battery with many charges it could be failing meaning it just won't take a full charge.
