    1) Check the volume control settings in Control Panel - make sure you select the advanced view to make sure ALL volume sliders are at full volume.

    2) Try another mic with your PC if you can

    3) Can the "remote" person hear anyone else when they use the video link?

Mic not working ear phones work but not mic, speakers work as well??

If you are using the windows operating system, Try one of the following.

1) Check you have plugged the mic properly into the socket
2) Goto volumecontrols->advanced and then check if the mic is in muted. If yes, uncheck the option.
3) Goto Controlpanel->Sound->recording option and check if the mic is enabled. If not enable it.
4) If still its not working, Try installing audio drivers.

I bought a Logitech webcam and the sound won't come though. It states my input level is not high emough but I can't find it to change it please

My understanding is that a webcam is only a webcam not a webcam+mic (mic=microphone for sound to be input) unless your webcam has video and sound capabilities.

1. get a mic
2. if you webcam is supposed to be also a mic, (I have yet to see one of those myself) you should hook up the connector for the microphone (usually a a red trs plug/connector) to your pc.
3. make sure your have run the video/sound wizard of your instant message application to test your video, mic and speakers. (to see, talk and be heard and hear what the others are saying)

are you trying to hear what the other person is saying when having a video conversation?
1. check your speakers are properly connected, powered and turned on.
2. check your speakers (and mic aswell) are not muted (check your speaker icon on the system tray and check your volume controls by doing right and/or left click on the speaker icon on the system tray.
3. make sure your have run the video/sound wizard of your instant message application to test your video, mic and speakers. (to see, talk and be heard and hear what the others are saying)
4. make sure your sound adapter's drivers are installed and your device is working properly (check device manager by going to start>run> type devmgmt.msc the press enter and make sure that under sounds you don't have any ? (no drivers) or ! driver problem for your sound adapter.

There is no sound coming from my computer on either my monitor or desktop speakers. I have checked my volume controls in all of the panels and they are up but I still have no sound.

Hello.
The things you should do:
1- Make sure your speakers are on( properly connected to power supply).there should be a LED indicator ON
2- Make sure the cable coming out of your speakers or monitor ( Mini plug connector) is properly connected to the audio out jack in your computer.

Before continue:
In order to be sure all is ok, unplug the mentioned mini plug in touch the end of the plug with your finger, if step 1 is ok, you should hear a noise coming from your speaker, set the volume control in your speakers to an apropiate level, (don't forget to plug in it again).
Is everything ok ? if yes, continue:

3- In the volume controls in windows:

The left most control is the master make sure the checkbox ( Mute all) is not checked, the same apply to the one labeled wave( this one reproduce the sounds stored in your PC and the ones coming from the mic, if you are using one).
Note: to use the mic you wil have to clear the corresponding checkbox.
If this doesn't solve your problem you will have to check for the audio drivers.
Let me know if you are still having problems.

I cant get my built in mic to work for my acer travelmate 2313LCi..?

I'm assuming your speakers work and you're running Windows XP. Please correct me if otherwise.

There are two settings for the microphone in Windows XP. One is for the volume of the mic you hear through the speakers. The other is for the recording volume of the microphone (and the volume others here when you speak to them through Skype or another program).

First check the recording volume:
Volume Manager (double click on speaker icon on your taskbar) -> Options -> Properties -> Recording -> OK -> Make sure the Microphone slider is at least halfway turned up and make sure the Microphone is selected

Next check the playback volume:
Volume Manager -> Options -> Properties -> Playback -> OK -> Make sure the Microphone isn't muted and adjust the volume according to your preferences

Is there a microphone dell dimension 3000?

Microphones on desktops are external, they connect to the pink connector in back or infront on your case. Once connected, doble click on the speaker icon on the systems tray by the clock. This will open up volume display, if microphone is not displayed open options select properties, select MIC volume checked, un-mute mic on volume control..
