SOURCE: StreetPilot c 340 does not allow to enter address

Ok, you've tried a reset, but have you tried a Master Reset? Doing this WILL ERASE ALL OF YOUR FAVORITES, but it may help. Turn the unit off. Press the "On" button with your finger on the bottom right of the screen at the same time. Release the "On" button, but keep pressing the screen until the unit asks if you're sure you want to reset all data. Press "Yes". See if this helps.

SOURCE: Garmin 350 won't let me enter City/Postal Code

I had the same problem with new UK postcodes. My maps are v9; v11 is current standard. Garmin told me that for commercial locations you can find the premises in Google maps and then use the "send" facility that appears at the top of map to send location via usb connection to your Garmin. You may have to download an Activex control. Hope this helps

SOURCE: Garmin Nuvi 200 Stopped Working

Hi and welcome to FixYa! I'm the expert that chose your issue to resolve.

It sounds as if the display is failing on your Nuvi and there is really no way a consumer can repair these units. I've shown the link to out of warranty repair at Garmin. As you will see, it is not inexpensive to have them repair it $125.00 flat rate) and you may want to consider a replacement GPS (if you're unhappy with Garmin, then you may decide to try another brand). The bright side of this equation is that when Garmin repairs a unit, they also load the latest software and maps (a map update is recommended at 1 year intervals due to constantly changing information) which would normally cost you $69.00 anyway. That sort of brings the price to repair your unit down to about $55.00 which is not too bad. New unit prices range wildly from $100-$200 on the internet.

Thanks for using!

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.
If it hasn’t, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

The manual can be downloaded from Garmin.

1. Touch Where To? > Address.
2. Change the state, the country, or the province, if necessary.
3. Touch Search All. If you know the city, touch Spell City, enter the city/postal code, and touch Done. Select the city/postal code in the list. (Not all map data provides postal code searching.)
4. Enter the number of the address, and touch Done.
5. Enter the street name, and touch Done.
6. Select the correct street in the list, if necessary.
7. Touch the address, if necessary.

Cannot hold home address just purchased gps

Instead of entering the city, press "Search All". Then enter the rest of the address as normal. Sometimes the address is listed as being in a different/nearby city due to the ZIP code. Let me know if this helps.

My garmin nuvi 200 gives me a different street name before I can type in the correct one...

If the unit is suggesting a different street name, try re-entering the address. When you get to the city, hit, "Search All." Then enter the address as normal. It is possible the address is listed as being in a different city, due to the ZIP code. Let me know if this helps.

I tried to enter a valid address and it says no match found . I know for a fact it is an actual physical address. What am I doing wrong?

When you are entering the address, instead of entering a city press, "Search All". Then enter the address as usual. It is possible the address is listed as being in a different/nearby city (due to the ZIP code). See if this helps.

How can I turn off the feature that "guesses" what name I want to enter?

The unit does not "guess" what name you are trying to enter. It provides you with a list (even if the list only contains one name) of places in it's database for the location you are telling it you want to go, similar to what you are typing.

If it is providing you with incorrect places, start re-entering the address but do not enter the city. When it asks, press "Search All" instead. Then enter the address you want to find. It may be that what you are searching for is listed as being in a different city, due to the ZIP code. See if this helps.

Garmin 750

Some towns are known by two different names; for example: Orange Park/Flemming Island, Florida. Zip is 32003 for both. Porter Ranch/Northridge, California. Zip is 91326. Try either entering the alternate name (if their is one) or just the zip code...Hope this works...It solved my problem...Jim

Can't finish typing street address or city before choices are given I don't need

If the unit is not allowing you to continue to enter the street address, press the back button until you get to the city. Press "Search All" instead of the name of the city and try the address again. It could be that the unit has the address listed in a different city (it sometimes goes by how the post office lists the ZIP code). See if this helps. As for taking the unit apart to access the reset button, all you have to do is remove the faceplate. There is an intentation under the top. Insert your fingertip and pull it forward. Carefully remove the faceplate, and the reset button is on the right hand side.

Postal Code search?

Here's the quote from the Nuvi 350 Users Manual:

Quote 1 (page 7):

"You can search for a postal code. Enter the postal code instead of the city name."

Quote 2 (page 7):

"2. Select the region, city or postal code, when prompted.

Note: There never appears to be an occasion when I'm prompted to specifically enter a postal code, just a city. So I naturally do as instructed in quote 1 above.
