Identify the source from hot or from cold or from both. cold only suggests you may have a rusty water service supply pipe. this pipe is outside underground. hot would indicate corrosion at your water tou may have a copper system but it;sheater. both hot and cold would possibly indicate galvanized nipples were used to stub out of the wall under your sink, and are experiencing ionic transfer...or electrolysis...if its your bathtub you are talking about and not your sink faucet,,,,the color is very common and is occurring because your tub spout and showerhead were piped with galvanized pipe. a lot of plumbing shops pre-fab their tub valves with galvanized pipe and supply the valve water with copper tubing....just grin and bear it if so. one more idea if it is your faucet and it occurs on both hot and cold use...check the screen in your faucet aerator...the little chrome (or brass) tip that screws on and off the end of the spout on the faucet. good luck and if you see corrosion on any supply connections...handle with care...the pipe or fitting could be very brittle or soft...and break apart...causing a flood....make sure to know where and how to turn your house water supply off before going beyond a visual inspection of your plumbing..orange water indicates corrosion of steel pipe 99% of the time and bkue water indicates corrosion of copper pipe 99% of the time.

You didn't mention the source of the water. Is this a well or connected to a water system? If is a well you might need to install a filter on the line coming into the house. Does the orange water stain or have any odor? It is possible that there is a loose connection somewhere allowing sediment to leach into the line when there is no active flow.

Something is caught in the stem. Make sure the stem is free of debris. Also check that the valve or cartridge is intact.

SOURCE: Rusty water comes out of cold water faucet

Rust is usually a sign of galvanized pipe mixed with copper pipe incorrectly.Could be the pipe nipple used for the tub spout connection to the valve. You could change it to a brass nipple might be the problem

SOURCE: after installing a grohe faucet

It air bubbles in the water giving the appearance of cloudy.
It would seem that the aerator in the new faucet is particularly efficient.

If you take a glass of "cloudy" water and let it stand for a few mins, you should find it clears up nicely as the air slowly bleeds out through the top.

How do I set up the plumbing to convert a single bathroom sink to a double sink?

hot and cold supply is easy. You need to solder in a copper T-piece, and to that add a short length of copper pipe with an isolation valve and then connect that to a flexible braided pipe to the faucet.

Waste water not quite so easy. Have both P-traps fall to a cross pipe that goes to your existing waste.

A plumber could do the job in an hour and a half.

The tub is clogged with hair

Few plumbing issues such as Dripping faucets. Running toilets. Leaky valves. Clogged bathtubs can be solved by our own trying few things.
1)Firstly lookout for what is causing blockage such as soap or hair inside the pipeline blocking water just pull it out from pipes.
2)Secondly use a plunger(Tool used by plumber to clear clog) pour some water in bathtub to cover the plunger block the overflow of water with rag.Place the plunger over drain pull up & down 5 to 6 times.
3)Lastly if still the clog is not cleared try out with snake a long flexible steel cable wound on a handle In a sink you just feed the snake down the drain, but on a bathtub you need to feed the snake down through the overflow plate opening. Start by feeding about 3 feet of the snake into the opening, turning it as you push it forward. You will feel some resistance as you work the snake through the trap under the drain, and the turning helps to move the head through the trap. The snake should either break up the clog by pushing its way through it, or your turning will hook the end of the snake onto the clog and you can pull it out.

After trying with above if still there is plumbing issue call sewer line repair services for help.

The plumber installed shower diverter and when the tap is running so is the shower. He did not install with copper pipes, but now says there doesn't have to be. He has thrown out the insturction and...

Copper pipe is not required for correct fucntioning of the diverter valve. Some diverter valves are not 100% shut off of tub faucet.... But it should mostly shut off. I suggest that debris may have damaged the rubber parts of the diverter, take it apart and inspect.

In my opinion PEX (which is plactic, multiple layer pipe) is much better than copper. Copper reacts with chemicals in the water, in some areas of the world....

You did not mention what BRAND, or model controls you have installed, but having the warranty sheet missing shoud not harm you getting what you need, and it cannot be a big deal, as there is little to a diverter valve...

I have very little hot water pressure on my american standard shower faucet. Can I adjust it?

the pressure in pipes has to do with the volume. The bigger the pipe the better the pressure. Take the time to trace out your hot water line and see if you can find any old galvonized pipe, thats usually the problem in most cases. galvonized pipe over time will rust and corrode causing restriction in the water line. replacing it with 1/2" copper should solve the problem.

My hot water pressure is **** poor due to the hot water pipes becoming galvanised..IS there a product out there that will clear the galvanisation from the pipes feeding my shower?

Sorry to say but, there are no products that will clear your galvanized pipes without causing major leaking and contamination. best thing to do is replace all galvanized pipe with copper or PVC type piping.

No water from hot water faucet

thanks for your question, sounds to me like you have a frozen line, I used to live in Northern, MN on a well, and had alot of time un-thawing water lines, yes it is continuous flow, sorry for having to say this but you need to immediately start tracing your hot water lines and see if you have any leaks, bulges, or ice forming on the line, tap the line with a screwdriver to hear the difference in sound when you find the frozen section, here is the tricky part, if its (pecks line, plastic) then you need to call a plumber, if copper, you can use a torch to un thaw the line, but use extream caution when doing this as many people has accidentally started fires, my best advise is to call a plumber, hope that helped, please get back to us and let us know what you find, thanks again, mr.grzz
